‘We were done with LA’: Aaron Paul reveals he sold his home and moved family to Paris after wildfires
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Aaron Paul and his wife, Lauren, have made a dramatic move, leaving Los Angeles behind in the wake of destructive wildfires. The 'Breaking Bad' star revealed that their family has relocated to Paris, France, citing safety concerns and a long-held dream of living abroad.
Aaron Paul leaves wildfire-hit LA to raise children in Paris
Aaron Paul told the Daily Mail at an F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix event on Friday, November 21, that when the wildfires struck Los Angeles, “we just knew that we were done with LA.” He added that they sold their house in LA and moved to Paris.
The couple’s decision was driven not only by the trauma of the fires but also by their desire to provide a different life for their children, their 7-year-old daughter Story Annabelle and 3-year-old son Ryden Caspian. Paul explained, “We went out there for the kiddos … we always dreamt of doing a year abroad.”
He further added that they wanted to experience different cultures, saying, “We just always wanted to be around a completely different culture.”
In his own words, Paris has been “awesome,” although he admits his French is limited to a few phrases like “bonjour.” The Pauls are even considering extending what was meant to be a one-year stay because of how much they are enjoying the City of Light.
Aaron Paul’s Paris connection
Aaron and Lauren’s move has deep personal significance. Aaron proposed to Lauren in Paris on New Year’s Eve in 2012, and they married in a Paris-themed Malibu wedding in 2013.
In July, the couple listed their Los Feliz home, a Spanish-style property valued at around $10 million, for sale.
This California home was not just any house; it previously belonged to celebrities such as Tim Curry, Jim Parsons, and Robert Pattinson, and featured luxury amenities such as a free-form swimming pool, an outdoor fireplace, an amphitheater, and a koi pond. Though the Pauls were not among those who lost their homes in the wildfires, the events of early 2025 were a wake-up call.
Wildfires had ravaged many parts of Los Angeles, forcing over 100,000 residents to evacuate, especially in high-profile neighborhoods like Pacific Palisades and Eaton.
Several other celebrities, including Adam Brody and Anna Faris, were personally impacted by the natural disaster.
Aaron also admitted that those events made him reassess his priorities and ultimately triggered the leap to relocate abroad. He noted that although he returns to the US for work, he is excited for his children to experience a different way of life.
