Water races through West Hollywood streets
Water tore through the area with noticeable force, spreading quickly across streets and pushing its way toward vehicles in the Sunset Plaza stretch.
In several instances, people were seen wading through inches of standing water, while a wider view of the scene revealed just how far the flooding had extended across surrounding blocks.
Vehicles were left stranded as rising water swallowed portions of the roadway, with reports indicating that the overflow also seeped into some ground-floor apartments and underground parking structures.
But the situation took a sharper turn soon after.

Authorities assess damage due to flooding
The flooding was traced back to a water main rupture that began near Palm Avenue and Harratt Street at around 2:30 am, according to officials.
Authorities later identified the damaged infrastructure as a 36-inch trunk line installed in 1916, highlighting the age of the system involved in the incident.
Crews moved quickly to shut down the affected line and began working through a network of large valves connected to it.

However, officials cautioned that stopping the flow would take time rather than happen immediately.
Because the system operates under significant pressure, the shutdown had to be handled gradually to avoid making the situation worse.
As crews worked to contain the damage, city officials, including Mayor Karen Bass, visited the site to assess the situation.
The disruption also spilled into public transit, with Metro announcing route diversions impacting parts of Lines 16 and 105.
