WASHINGTON, DC: The White House denied rumors that President Donald Trump was being treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

These health rumors spread online on Saturday, April 4, after the White House said at 11:08 am that the president would not make any public appearances for the rest of the day. This was unusual because Trump usually spends weekends at Mar-a-Lago, where he often plays golf.

White House limits press access amid Trump health rumors

The White House’s rapid-response account on X addressed rumors suggesting that Trump was ill or unable to perform his duties, linking the speculation to the press blackout.

It said, “Deranged liberals cook up insane conspiracy theories when (Trump) goes 12 hours without speaking to press. (They said nothing when Biden routinely goes 12 days without speaking to the press) Fear not! President Trump literally never stops working.”

At the same time, the White House unexpectedly limited press access to Trump starting at 11 am, as reported by The Guardian journalist Hugo Lowell on social media.

Lowell wrote, “The White House has called a travel/photo lid as of 11am ET, meaning we do not expect to see the president for the rest of the day,” and added, “Trump is in Washington this weekend but we are yet to have a formal news briefing on the situation with the missing airman in Iran.”

Trump health speculation grows amid White House pushback

The White House has pushed back against claims suggesting Trump was hospitalized, as fresh speculation about his health circulated online. The reports come alongside past details about a medical checkup and recent public comments.

Trump last visited a medical center in October, when he said he underwent imaging tests. He told reporters on board Air Force One at the time, “I did. I got an MRI. It was perfect,” referring to the procedure.

According to The Mirror, Steven Cheung, Assistant to the President and White House Director of Communications, released a statement defending Trump’s condition and work schedule. “There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump. “On this Easter weekend, he has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office. God Bless him,” he said.

Trump did not explain the reason for the scan but later spoke about the outcome. “The doctor said (it) was some of the best reports, for the age, they’ve ever seen,” he stated, adding that people should “ask the doctors” for more details when questioned about the MRI.

His physician, Dr Sean Barbabella, described the visit as part of routine care. He said it was a “scheduled follow-up evaluation as part of his ongoing health maintenance plan and included advanced imaging, laboratory testing, and preventative health assessments.”

Barbabella also noted that the president “continues to demonstrate excellent overall health.”
