WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump appeared at a White House press meeting on Tuesday, July 15, and the public was left puzzled as they observed what looked like makeup covering a patch on the back of his hand.

The patch seemed to be covering a raised circular area of skin, and the reason was not revealed by Trump's team. However, medical experts reviewed video clips and shared their insights with the Daily Mail regarding possible reasons for having the makeup patch.

Dr Boback Berookhim, a New York-based urologist and men's sexual health specialist, told the outlet, "More likely than not, he has some bruising on his hand and they are trying to hide it. It could be from a blood draw, an insect bite, or potentially from hitting his hand against something."

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed in a statement to the Daily Mail, "President Trump is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other president in history."

She added, "His commitment is unwavering and he proves that every single day."

Leavitt also said in a statement, "President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day."

Meanwhile, Dr Neal Patel, a primary care physician in Orange County, California, informed the outlet, "Shaking too many hands is a little bit a stretch. President Trump has had something like this in the past, and from my experience and my patients, I would put that lower on the list of possibilities."

Similar mysterious bumps previously spotted on Donald Trump's hands

Interestingly, Donald Trump was seen with similar bumps and bruises on his hand almost monthly since taking office in January.

Moreover, his hands seemed to have makeup covering one of these bruises in June as well.

In March 2025, Trump's physician, Dr Sean Barbabella, released a statement on the subject that read, "President Donald J Trump will complete his routine annual physical exam next month at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). The date of his physical exam will be released publicly in the next few weeks."

The statement garnered interest as it came days after a mysterious bruise was seen on the POTUS' hand when he met with French President Emmanuel Macron in February.

The yellow and purple bruise on Trump's right hand appeared to have been lightened with makeup.

New York City-based internist Dr Stuart Fischer earlier noted that skin fragility is especially relevant for Trump, who at 79 is the second-oldest president in US history.

Meanwhile, Dr Patel added that bruising after a simple blood draw would be common in someone of Trump's age and is very common among seniors.

Similarly, Dr Berookhim noted, "It could be a simple routine physical. Perhaps he is on medications that need monitoring; maybe he was having some complaint and they wanted to look further."

As it comes to his health concerns, Trump has proclaimed that he "did well" in his April physical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he underwent extensive testing, which included a cognitive assessment.
