Photos and videos from the team's championship parade quickly spread across social media because of one eye-catching accessory Torres chose to wear, eventually prompting an unexpected response from the Trump administration.

The White House's official X account reacted after video of Torres wearing a red "Make Spain Great Again" cap during Spain's victory parade gained millions of views across social media.

Sharing its take on the now-viral video, the account posted, "Everyone wants in on the movement."

The response itself soon became part of the story, with users widely sharing screenshots of the White House post alongside Torres' celebration pictures.

The cap became one of the biggest talking points of Spain's celebrations.

The viral moment came less than 24 hours after President Donald Trump attended the FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Following Spain's 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina, Trump joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the trophy ceremony, presenting winners' medals to Spain's players before handing captain Rodri the World Cup trophy.

Torres was among the players who briefly greeted the president while receiving his medal before celebrating Spain's World Cup triumph with teammates.

Ferran Torres dons 'MAGA style hat'

The attention began after Torres returned to Madrid with Spain's World Cup-winning squad following Sunday's dramatic victory over Argentina.

Having scored the decisive extra-time goal in the final, Torres joined his teammates aboard an open-top bus as hundreds of thousands of supporters gathered across the Spanish capital to celebrate the country's latest football triumph.

Among the sea of Spanish flags, medals and World Cup celebrations, one detail quickly caught the internet's attention.

Torres appeared wearing a bright red cap carrying the words "Make Spain Great Again," an obvious twist on Trump's famous "Make America Great Again" slogan.

Torres posted a video wearing the hat on his Instagram account.

The footballer didn't wear it for just a few seconds. 

He could be seen sporting the cap in several photographs taken during the parade, while additional videos and images shared through his Instagram Stories showed him continuing to wear it as celebrations carried on.

Those posts rapidly spread across X, Instagram and TikTok, with many users debating whether the slogan was simply a playful celebration, a fashion choice or something else entirely.

Torres, so far, has not publicly commented on the cap or explained why he chose to wear it.
