WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden has kept a relatively low profile ever since dropping out of the 2024 race and endorsing Kamala Harris as a contender.

Republican Representative Nancy Mace (R-NC) likely saw an opportunity in this to score some political brownie points, and tweeted on Thursday, August 1 that he was "missing in action".

However, the move spectacularly backfired, with the White House ultimately gaining the upper hand in the social media sphere.

The announcement followed shortly after the revelation that the Biden administration had orchestrated a prisoner exchange to repatriate three American citizens and one Green Card holder detained in Russia.

Rep Nancy Mace accused President Biden of being MIA

"Biden is MIA," Mace wrote on X, along with the question, "Why is no one talking about it?"

While Mace likely believed she was gaining political points, that wasn't quite the case.

Just as Mace was alleging that Biden was missing in action, it was reported that his administration had orchestrated a significant prisoner swap deal with several countries.

This agreement resulted in the liberation of eight Americans, among them journalist Evan Gershkovich and Marine veteran Paul Whelan.

RawStory highlighted that numerous individuals criticized the congresswoman's poorly timed post, yet the most impactful retort may have been the White House's succinct three-word tweet that effectively countered Mace's claim.

The phrase "He's been busy" was posted above Biden's message regarding the release of the hostages.

It is to be noted that Biden had been absent from public appearances since July 17, following a positive Covid-19 diagnosis. The hashtag #WhereIsJoeBiden had then gone viral, raising questions about his whereabouts and his recovery from the illness.

Internet ridicules Nancy Mace after Biden tweet backfires

The response to the White House's ridicule of Mace was quite intense.

A user wrote, "What is Nancy Mace up to? Oh wait, the House is in recess."

Another mocked, "Lmao it feels so nice under all this shade being thrown"

The third commentator made a similar remark saying, "The WH throwing shade on Nancy Mace is what I live for!"

"Mace just got burned!" One exclaimed.

Other chimed in, "Wow, really busy. Lololol Just go away please."

A few hours after the White House's mockery, Mace attempted to turn the situation to her advantage by alleging that the president was "busy letting off the mastermind behind 9/11."

However, that only resulted in further mockery and evidence. "Meanwhile you’re busy exploiting 9/11," a user responded to Mace's Tweet.

Another critic wrote, "You violate the honor code on a daily basis. For someone who’s not supposed to lie, cheat or steal, nor tolerate those who do, you sure do a lot of lying and tolerating."
