NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On the Monday, December 8, episode of 'The View', actress and host Whoopi Goldberg delivered a sharp critique of President Donald Trump, warning that his legacy could quickly fade if he continues prioritizing personal glory over public service.

The discussion was prompted by Trump’s recent receipt of the inaugural 'FIFA Peace Prize', a point of contention among the show’s co-hosts.

‘The View’ slams Trump’s focus on personal glory

Trump received the first-ever 'FIFA Peace Prize', an accolade implied to be largely symbolic by the group’s leader, Gianni Infantino, at a Friday ceremony.

This came despite the political leader’s past suggestions that he should win the 'Nobel Peace Prize' in the future.

Co-host Sunny Hostin described the award as a “fake award,” expressing skepticism about the legitimacy and substance of such a prize. Another co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, said, "This just feels so cringe to me," and argued that Trump seems “heavily focused on his legacy” rather than fulfilling the campaign promises he made to voters.

She further said that he is "ensuring that history books won’t refer to his time in the White House as a “fluke” thing that happened."

According to Griffin, his aspirations include broader global recognition, such as monuments or having his name on buildings or other landmarks, rather than addressing domestic issues like manufacturing and affordability, which matter deeply to many of his supporters.

Griffin warned that if Trump doesn’t shift his focus back to those core issues, his legacy will be defined by unfulfilled promises. “A lot of folks are just feeling like that’s not happening,” she said.

As Griffin summarized, his legacy may ultimately be that he “did not live up to what he promised his voters” if he fails to refocus.

Whoopi Goldberg warns Trump his legacy is fading

Building upon Griffin’s remarks, Goldberg spoke more bluntly and emotionally. She accused Trump of caring only about himself and seeking adulation rather than serving all Americans.

Goldberg, raising serious questions about his role, said, “His personal stuff, I could care less [about], I want to know, what are you doing for us?" She reminded him of his pledge to be “the president for everybody,” pointing out that she believes he hasn’t lived up to that promise. Instead, Goldberg argued, he’s “been the president just for you.”

She dismissed his personal accolades and demanded action, saying, “I need you to be the president.”

Her strongest warning followed: if Trump continues down this path, "what’s left of [his] legacy, is gonna disappear and you will just be a footnote like gas in the desert.”
