LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Comedian Jon Stewart recently made headlines with his candid remarks about President Joe Biden's age, suggesting that while a second term for Donald Trump might be alarming, Biden's age makes him unfit for the presidency.

According to Business Insider, at 81 years old, Biden is one of the oldest presidents in US history, a fact that Stewart didn't shy away from addressing during his performance at the Netflix Is a Joke Festival.

Jon Stewart's blunt assessment of Joe Biden

"I know liberals say, 'Don't say Joe Biden is old' — don't say what people see with their own eyes," Stewart said of the 81-year-old president.

"I know you know how fucking old he is, and I know you don't want to say it because Trump is so scary, but he's so fucking old."

Stewart minced no words, acknowledging the reluctance of some to discuss Biden's age due to the perceived threat of Trump.

He pointed out the palpable unease that viewers may feel when watching Biden on television, hinting at concerns about the president's fitness for office.

"When you watch him on television, you're nervous, aren't ya?" Stewart continued.

Stewart challenges the Presidential race's geriatric matchup

Expressing his skepticism about the decision to pit two old men against each other in the presidential race, Stewart questioned the wisdom of having the oldest contenders ever vying for the highest office in the land.

"I'm not saying that Biden can't contribute to society, he just shouldn't be president," Stewart told his audience.

Indeed, if Biden secures reelection, he would be inaugurated for his second term at the age of 82, making him the oldest president in US history to begin a second term. Likewise, Trump, at 78, would break records if he were to reclaim the presidency.

"Why are we allowing this? And now we're going to have a president that's the two oldest people that have ever run for the office of the presidency," Stewart said earlier in his segment.

Biden's defense amidst debate

Despite criticisms regarding his age, Biden remains steadfast in his conviction that his extensive experience and wisdom make him uniquely qualified for the job.

In a recent interview with MSNBC, he touted his age as an asset, emphasizing the depth of his knowledge and expertise compared to other candidates.

"I have acquired a hell of a lot of wisdom and know more than the vast majority of people. And I'm more experienced than anybody that's ever run for the office," Biden told MSNBC in May.

Stewart's comments have added fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding Biden's candidacy, underscoring the significance of age in the upcoming election. With both candidates in their later years, voters are faced with a choice that could have far-reaching implications for the future of the nation.

As the November polls draw nearer, Biden and Trump are ramping up their campaigns, engaging in a fierce battle for fundraising supremacy. Biden's team recently announced a staggering $90 million haul in March alone, while Trump's camp boasted of raising over $76 million in April.
