PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: Former President Donald Trump recently ignited a wave of online mockery by sharing a post on his Truth Social platform that contained a fabricated quote praising his intellect during his time as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

The dubious claim, which Trump appeared to embrace, alleged that one of his former professors, William T Kelley, had once declared, "Donald Trump was the smartest student I ever had," as reported by MeidasTouch.

However, this assertion stood in stark contrast to Kelly's actual remarks about his former student. According to Frank DiPrima, a close friend of the late professor, Kelley had repeatedly stated, "Donald Trump was the dumbest goddamn student I ever had."

As reported by Philadelphia Magazine, DiPrima claimed Kelley had uttered this damning assessment of Trump's academic performance "100 times over the course of 30 years."

Trump's unfounded boast about his Wharton credentials is not an isolated incident. Throughout his public life, the former president has demonstrated a tendency for exaggerating his achievements and spreading dubious claims.

During his 2016 presidential campaign and subsequent term in office, Trump frequently touted his Wharton degree, name-dropping the prestigious institution on at least 52 occasions between June 2015 and January 2018, according to the student newspaper Daily Pennsylvanian.

However, despite his frequent boasting about his Wharton degree, Trump consistently refused to allow his academic performance at the institution to be made public.

Moreover, the fabricated Kelley quote is not the first time Trump had shared a fake statement from a famous person. In July 2019, he had faced scrutiny for sharing a fake quote from former Republican President Ronald Reagan on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), CNN reported.

The quote, accompanied by a photo of Trump and Reagan shaking hands, claimed Reagan had remarked, "For the life of me, and I'll never know how to explain it, when I met that young man, I felt like I was the one shaking hands with the president."
