WASHINGTON, DC: When reporters asked Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday, May 6, about Hamas' declaration that it had accepted a cease-fire pact involving the brutal Mideast war, she merely smirked and responded sarcastically, as per the New York Post.

A reporter asked Harris as she exited Joe Louis Southern Kitchen in Detroit, Mich, "Madam Vice President, Hamas says it accepted...." whch she interjected with a grin as she pointed to her bag, "Shrimp and grits. You wanted to know."

The reporter added, "Hamas says it accepted a cease-fire deal. Your reaction?" while another reporter asked, "What are your thoughts on Hamas accepting a cease-fire deal?"

However, Harris didn't respond and entered her motorcade. As part of her 'Economic Opportunity Tour', the vice president visited Detroit on Monday to promote the economic initiatives of the Biden administration.

Notably, Hamas made a public announcement earlier in the day announcing its acceptance of the cease-fire agreement mediated by Qatar and Egypt.

However, it was soon disclosed by Israeli authorities that the Jewish state has not yet approved the agreement, which calls for the release of hundreds of Palestinian inmates and a six-week cease-fire in return for the release of over 30 hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

Several senior Israeli authorities questioned Hamas' sincerity. The fact that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to advance into the southern Gazan city of Rafah regardless of a hostage agreement has compounded all of this.

An estimated 1.5 million Palestinians reside in Rafah; many came here to escape conflict further north and set up tents. According to a statement from the White House, President Joe Biden 'reiterated' his views on the matter during a discussion with Netanyahu on Monday.

For a long time, Biden has stated that he opposes a physical assault on Rafah unless there is a solid plan in place for the civilian population residing there. For weeks, Netanyahu has been threatening to take Rafah, claiming it to be Hamas' final significant bastion. According to the Israeli prime minister, the conflict won't end until Hamas is eliminated.

Internet trolls Kamala Harris for her behavior with reporters

Several people on the internet trolled Kamala Harris as she dodged reporters’ questions about Hamas with sarcastic responses. A person wrote on X, "Kamala Harris is the J Cole of the white house," while one added, "Only thing that she is good for, Uber Eats."

A person also posted, "She's the worst VP in history," whereas one mentioned, "Her and everyone else in the admin don’t care whatsoever about whether we have wars gong on or not. They just care about getting lunch."

A user also stated, "She is the BORDER CZAR. Why has she never set foot on the border that Biden put her in charge of?" while one said, "'Let them eat cake' moment. But 'shrimp and grits'."
