WASHINGTON, DC: Following his near-sweep of Super Tuesday states, former President Donald Trump heightened the stakes by issuing a challenge to President Joe Biden for a rematch debate, as per the New York Post.

With Nikki Haley's early Wednesday withdrawal from the race, Trump has emerged as the de facto presumed Republican nominee. Notably, he abstained from participating in any of the Republican debates in 2024.

Donald Trump seeks to debate with Joe Biden

The former President posted on his Truth Social account, "It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People. Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD)."

Trump has been pressuring Biden to engage in a verbal sparring bout by implying that he doesn't believe his successor is mentally capable of handling him.

Meanwhile, Michael Tyler, communications director for the Biden campaign said, "I know Donald Trump’s thirsting for attention and struggling to expand his appeal beyond the MAGA base — and that’s a conversation we’ll have at the appropriate time in this cycle. But if he’s so desperate to see President Biden in prime time, he doesn’t have to wait! He can join the tens of millions of Americans who will tune in to watch the State of the Union tomorrow night."

Interestingly, for his third State of the Union speech, Trump plans to initiate a comprehensive trolling campaign targeting Biden. Typically, the majority of presidential debates occur in the fall, organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates since the late 1980s.

However, during the 2020 election campaign, Trump and the Republican National Committee vehemently criticized the CPD, alleging biased moderator selection and expressing grievances over certain regulations.

The RNC issued threats to bar candidates from participating in CPD-hosted debates and demanded organizational changes. However, it's worth noting that RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel was overseeing these actions.

The RNC voted unanimously in 2022 to leave the CPD in response to disagreements with the organization in charge of the debates.

Internet takes a jibe as Donald Trump says he wants to debate Joe Biden

Several people on the internet mocked Donald Trump as he raised the stakes by challenging President Joe Biden for a debate.

A user on X wrote, "Zero interest in watching two 80-year-olds debate," while another added, "It won’t happen and as much as I find the Trump campaign to be a train wreck, Biden would lose so bad that I might even feel sorry for him."

A user also mentioned, "Trump, who refused to debate with his Republican opponents!" whereas another stated, "Pretty hard to argue that when he refused to debate during the primaries. JRB will refuse…."

A person also wrote, "Hopefully Trump s***s his pants like he did while speaking over the weekend."
