Zohran Mamdani shares Spotify playlist of 12 Taylor Swift songs amid her wedding to Travis Kelce
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has shared a playlist of his favorite Taylor Swift songs as excitement continues to build following her reported wedding celebrations with American professional football player Travis Kelce.
The playlist arrived as public attention remained focused on the couple’s wedding and Mamdani’s repeated references to the event during recent public appearances.
Zohran Mamdani shares 12 Taylor Swift songs spanning multiple eras
Published by The New York Times on Friday, July 3 via Spotify, the playlist included 12 tracks spanning several eras of Swift’s career. Among the selections were fan favorites including 'Love Story' (Taylor’s Version), 'Cruel Summer,' 'Delicate' and 'August,' alongside deeper cuts such as 'Dress,' 'I Know Places,' 'My Tears Ricochet' and 'Only the Young.'
One notable feature of the playlist was Mamdani’s preference for Swift’s 2019 album 'Lover,' with four songs from the record making the final selection: 'I Forgot That You Existed,' 'Cruel Summer,' 'I Think He Knows' and 'London Boy.'
No other album received as many entries on the mayor’s list. The playlist was released as New York prepared for Swift and Kelce’s widely reported wedding celebrations at Madison Square Garden, which drew significant public attention.
The couple got married on Friday, July 3, in a star-studded ceremony attended by about 1,000 guests and officiated by actor and comedian Adam Sandler. Reports indicated that prior to the wedding, they also hosted a rehearsal dinner attended by family, friends and several high-profile guests.
Ahead of the wedding, Swift and Kelce also announced charitable donations totaling $26 million to organizations across the United States, including food banks, children’s charities and educational programs. Representatives for the couple said the contributions were intended to support communities in New York and other locations that hold personal significance for them.
Zohran Mamdani jokes about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding during heat warnings
Previously, Mamdani said he hoped Swift and Kelce’s wedding guests would beat the heat as New York City faced extreme weather conditions. The National Weather Service issued an extreme heat warning for New York City beginning Wednesday, July 1, and an extreme heat watch through the evening of Saturday, July 4.
During a June 30 press conference on the city’s heat preparations, a reporter asked him whether he could share anything about the couple’s upcoming wedding and whether New Yorkers should expect street closures similar to those seen during Knicks games.
Responding with a smile, Mamdani said, "My recommendation to all New Yorkers is to stay inside and stay cool. And if you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside and you will be staying cool. And I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large."
The following day, July 1, Mamdani again joked about the wedding on X and Instagram while issuing a public service announcement about the heat wave. “Here’s what you should know about the historic heat wave headed our way. Especially if you’re (hypothetically) having your wedding at MSG this weekend,” he wrote.
He first mentioned Swift and Kelce’s wedding during a June 15 press conference about Fourth of July weekend events, saying the city was prepared to host major occasions including the Knicks’ Finals run, July 4 celebrations, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
