Guests face strict screening and no-phone rule
The security plan for the wedding is described as layered.
Swift’s personal security team will handle the innermost layer of protection, while Madison Square Garden’s security staff will oversee all building entry points.
The NYPD will also deploy hundreds of officers, including specialized units, both inside and outside the venue, according to sources familiar with the security plan.
CNN sources said every guest, including high-profile celebrities, will be screened before entering. Guests have also been instructed not to bring personal security details, firearms or mobile phones.
Madison Square Garden employees working the event will undergo security screening as well.
The no-phone policy could create logistical challenges when the celebration ends around 2 am.
Without access to their phones, guests will not be able to contact their chauffeurs or car services, raising the possibility of confusion and delays as attendees leave the venue.
Taylor Swift expected to use private MSG entrance
The approximately 1,000 guests invited to the wedding celebration of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will enter in their cars on the southeast end of Madison Square Garden, just as guests did on Thursday, July 2, for the reported rehearsal dinner.
Taylor Swift is expected to enter on the north side of MSG and use the serpentine driveway, which will let her out on the floor of the arena where the wedding is set to happen, according to people familiar with the planning.
NYPD prepares for crowds near Madison Square Garden
The New York Police Department has announced the closure of several streets near Madison Square Garden.
CNN's Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst John Miller has said the precautions being taken surrounding the event are likely due to both the NYPD's efforts to manage crowds and Swift's mindfulness of security concerns.
“I think one of the things that the NYPD was facing is, if throngs of people were going to come here, crowds would have to be managed,” he told the outlet.
