NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Zohran Mamdani is keeping up his trademark grassroots energy as election day approaches. The NYC mayoral frontrunner was spotted at a packed gay bar in the early hours of Saturday, November 1. This seems to be a part of his campaign trail.

A video of him interacting with the crowd has gone viral. He also stopped by a few other nightclubs that night. The New York City mayoral election takes place on Tuesday, November 4.

New York Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani speaks during a press conference on October 08, 2025 in New York City. Mamdani was joined by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Comptroller Brad Lander, Transit Workers United President John Samuelson and Mobilization Coordinator, Communications Workers of America Local 1180 Helen Jarrett after riding the M57, the slowest bus in NYC, to speak about the need for his campaign promise of fast and free bus service. Earlier this week, Mamdani launched a “Costs Saved” calculator that helps to show much money people will save due to his three core policy proposals of universal childcare, a rent freeze for rent-stabilized apartments, and free buses. The 34-year-old Democrat stopped by a gay bar around 1 am in an unplanned visit. Wearing formal attire, Mamdani grabbed the mic and asked the crowd, “Are we going to beat Andrew Cuomo?”

The room erupted in cheers as he continued. “Are we ready to win a city we can afford? Are we ready to make history? Let’s go out and do it. Thank you, my friends.” An X user named Matt, also known as @mattxiv, shared the video, which has since reached 10.1 million views online. Along with the clip, he wrote the caption, “So it’s 1 am and Zohran just showed up at the gay bar.”

Mamdani also stopped by another venue, Damballa NYC, where he was seen dancing and engaging with the crowd near the DJ booth as Alicia Keys’ “New York” track played. According to a post from Rogue DNC on Facebook, Mamdani made stops at several venues that night, including Gabriela, Caribbean Social Club, Damballa, Mood Ring, and Papi Juice, before ending the night at 100 Sutton.

Despite the late-night campaigning, Mamdani was back on the trail Sunday morning, November 2, greeting spectators at the New York City Marathon in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood. Social media users praised his high energy, with some joking about his “sleep schedule,” while others noted that he’s “changing the face of campaigning.”

NYC mayoral race remains tight with election day around the corner

Three candidates for New York City mayoral election are Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa. Mamdani currently leads his rivals and has been very active on the campaign trail, making frequent stops across the city and drawing energetic crowds at his events.

According to the Siena Research Institute, Mamdani leads with 46 percent support, followed by Cuomo at 24 percent and Sliwa at 15 percent. Another survey by UMass Lowell Center for Public Opinion reported a 19-point margin in Mamdani’s favour over Cuomo.

It’s quite interesting that despite Donald Trump’s criticism, calling Mamdani a “communist” and saying he shouldn’t be mayor, the young Democrat shows no signs of slowing down in his campaign.
