51% American voters approve of Trump's military action to stop Iran nuclear threat: Poll
WASHINGTON, DC: A new national poll finds that most American voters back President Donald Trump’s use of military force to stop Iran from building nuclear weapons. Among Republicans, support is sky-high; 86% approve.
Looking at all likely voters, 51% approve of the Republican leader's decision to use the military against Iran’s nuclear missile program and its ties to te**orism, while 41% don’t like it. This comes after Iran’s leaders refused to negotiate an end to their nuclear and missile projects.
25% Democrats approve of Trump's action
McLaughlin & Associates conducted the survey from March 2 to 9, talking to 1,000 likely voters. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 3.1%.
Iran’s nuclear program has long been a central issue in US foreign policy debates, with multiple administrations warning that Tehran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
Backing of Trump's military action in Iran was not confined to the Republican base.
The poll found 25% of Democrats also approve of the operation, indicating that concern over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions crosses party lines.
Supporters of military action argue that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons is a key national security objective for the US and its allies.
Media consumption appears to play a role in shaping attitudes toward Iran war
Despite majority support for action against Iran’s nuclear program, polling across the country shows Americans remain divided over the wider war with Iran and its long-term implications.
The survey also shows that media consumption appears to play a meaningful role in shaping attitudes toward the conflict.
Among voters who primarily watch right-of-center cable news, support for the military operation is overwhelming, with 82% approving and just 12% disapproving.
The left-wing media is lying and pushing a fake narrative that there has been “mixed messaging” about the objectives of Operation Epic Fury.

Viewers of left-leaning cable networks, however, expressed sharply different views, with 72% disapproving of the military action.
59% voters agree the US should 'finish the job' now
Support really jumps when people remember just how long Iran has been hostile to the US.
When asked whether they agreed or disagreed with the statement in relation to the past 47 years, “The United States military actions against Iran and the leadership of the Iranian regime were necessary and warranted to protect American lives today and in the future,” 57% responded positively, while 33% said they somewhat disagreed or strongly disagreed.
The numbers are even stronger among voters planning to back Republican candidates in the next congressional race: 87% support military action, and just 7% are against it.
When respondents were asked whether the US should finish eliminating the threat now rather than risk another military confrontation in the future, 59% of likely voters agreed the US should “finish the job,” compared with 33% who disagreed.
Rather than opposing the use of force, the poll indicates that a majority of voters support military action to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and an even larger share believes the US should ensure the threat is eliminated once and for all.
