VENTURA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears was allegedly driving erratically along a California highway before being pulled over and arrested for DUI, according to a 911 dispatch recording that captured the tense moments of an hour-long pursuit.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday, March 4, evening when the pop star, 44, was stopped by the California Highway Patrol after officers tracked her car along Highway 101 in Ventura County.

The pursuit reportedly began earlier in the evening, around 8:13 pm, when dispatchers received reports of a vehicle driving dangerously on the freeway.
During the 911 call, officers described a black sedan swerving across lanes and braking erratically as they attempted to locate the vehicle.
“A black sedan, erratic braking, swerving and driving with no tail light,” one dispatcher can be heard saying in the recording.
As updates continued, officers asked for additional units to move toward the area.
“Can we send all units down towards this area please,” another officer requested while colleagues relayed updates about the car’s movement along the freeway.
Authorities eventually identified the vehicle as a “2026 black BMW convertible,” according to the dispatch audio.
Throughout the call, officers coordinated their response while tracking the car’s location as it moved through the busy stretch of Highway 101.

The situation continued for roughly an hour before officers finally managed to stop the vehicle.
Around 9:13 pm, dispatch confirmed that the driver had stepped out of the car.
“Driver is out of the vehicle,” a dispatcher announced during the call.
Moments later, officers could be heard speaking with Spears after pulling her over.
“Talking with the driver,” one officer said, signaling that the pursuit had come to an end.
The dispatch recording captures the tense moments leading up to the stop as officers coordinated the response and followed the vehicle along the freeway.
After Spears exited the car, officers began discussing how to proceed with the investigation.
Officers request drug recognition expert following the stop
Once the vehicle was stopped, officers on the scene began evaluating the situation and discussing whether further testing would be needed.
During the dispatch call, one officer requested a DRE—short for Drug Recognition Expert—a specialist trained by the California Highway Patrol to determine whether a driver may be impaired.
The audio captures officers attempting to get the expert to the scene as quickly as possible.
A DRE is specifically trained to assess signs of impairment that may not always be immediately obvious during a standard roadside stop.
The call also includes discussions between officers about coordinating the next steps after Spears had been detained.
Britney Spears released after arrest, court appearance scheduled
According to Ventura County Sheriff records, Spears was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 pm following the stop.
Authorities later confirmed that she was released after the arrest.
The pop star is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, May 4, in connection with the DUI charge.
