WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden has responded to a recent Christmas message posted by former President Donald Trump on Truth Social.

In his Christmas post, Trump expressed his desire for his opponents to "rot in hell" and accused various individuals of seeking to destroy the nation.

In contrast, President Biden's response was grounded in a message of religious tolerance and love for one's enemies.

The President urged people to embrace the spirit of Christmas, which he views as a time for forgiveness and compassion.

While the tone of the two messages differed significantly, it remains to be seen how these messages will be received by the broader US public ahead of the 2024 general elections, as they serve as a stark reminder of the importance of civility, tolerance, and respect in the national and political discourse.

What was President Joe Biden’s response to Donald Trump’s Christmas message?

Going by his social media posts, it has been a bittersweet holiday season for former POTUS Donald Trump as he looks to clear his name of several criminal charges and pending lawsuits surrounding the 2020 election interference case and the January 6 Capitol Building riot.

In his Truth Social post made shortly after lunch on December 25, Trump wrote, “Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith, the out of control Lunatic who just hired outside attorneys, fresh from the SWAMP (unprecedented!), to help him with his poorly executed WITCH HUNT against “TRUMP” and “MAGA.””

He proceeded with his holiday rant by saying, “Included also are World Leaders, both good and bad, but none of which are as evil and “sick” as the THUGS we have inside our Country who, with their Open Borders, INFLATION, Afghanistan Surrender, Green New Scam, High Taxes, No Energy Independence, Woke Military, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran, All Electric Car Lunacy, and so much more, are looking to destroy our once great USA.”

He concluded the post in all-caps, “MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!”

President Biden shared an article from The Hill reporting on Trump’s post on X and added a religious message to take a jab at the former president’s remarks.

“There’s an expression they say in church sometimes: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you,” Biden wrote.

President Joe Biden, reportedly a practicing Catholic who regularly attends church, may face his political nemesis Donald Trump in a presidential rematch in the coming year.

According to the Decision Desk HQ and The Hill's aggregation of polls, Trump is holding a 52.4-point lead in the GOP presidential primary.

In a hypothetical head-to-head match-up, Biden is polling slightly behind Trump, with the aggregation of polls showing Trump with a 1.9 percent lead.
