'Absolutely spot on': Internet lauds Joe Biden's new campaign ad blasting Trump's 'shameful' comments on NATO
WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have stepped up their campaign for their re-election bid, effectively using former President Donald Trump's pledge to abandon 'delinquent' NATO members in the wake of a Russian attack.
According to ABC News, the Biden campaign released a new ad titled 'Walk Away' on Friday, February 16, highlighting the Republican frontrunner's shocking comments that he would 'encourage' Russia to attack NATO allies who fail to pay dues.
Trump, at a recent South Carolina rally, recalled a past conversation with a national head who asked if the US would protect them in the event of a Russian attack even if they did not meet the alliance's defense spending.
"You didn't pay? You're delinquent? 'No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You gotta pay. You gotta pay your bills,'" Trump declared. His remarks drew criticisms from Biden, who called it "appalling and dangerous," as well as heads of NATO member countries.
What is Joe Biden's new campaign ad?
The one-minute campaign ad slammed the former President's remarks against the US's NATO allies and emphasized Biden's commitment to NATO.
The ad starts by underscoring the significance of NATO as a military alliance for 75 years that has worked as the 'corner of America's security'.
"Trump wants to walk away from NATO. He's even given Putin and Russia the green light to attack America's allies," the ad's narrator said, followed by a clip of Trump's controversial remarks. "No president has ever said anything like it," the narrator adds. "It's shameful. It's weak. It's dangerous. It's un-American," the narrator continued.
The ad concluded by declaring Biden understands that America's commitment to NATO is good for the country and the world. "He will honor it because that's what a strong American President does."

The ad will run through Super Tuesday on March 5, when more than a dozen states will head for primary and caucus to choose their presidential candidate. It aims to target voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, which, according to the campaign, are "home to more than 2.5 million Americans who identify as Polish, Finnish, Norwegian, Lithuanian, Latvian, or Estonian -- all NATO countries that border Russia and face the threat of an expansion of Putin's aggression in Ukraine."
Biden campaign ad released hours after reported death of Alexei Navalny
The ad was released hours after the reported death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Based on a Reuters report, the 47-year-old Putin critic fell unconscious and died on February 16 after a walk at the Polar Wolf Arctic penal colony where he was imprisoned for three decades.
Navalny was among the strongest critics of the Russian President, who gained prominence for publicly speaking against the vast corruption in Putin's Russia.
Responding to the news, President Biden accused Putin of Navalny's death. "Russian authorities are going to tell their own story. Make no mistake: Putin is responsible for Navalny's death," the President stated as per an ABC News report.
Internet praises Biden's campaign ad
Internet showered prices on the latest campaign ad from the Biden team. Branding it as the best so far, social media users demanded more such ads that use Trump's words against him.
One user stated, "Absolutely spot on ad from the Biden team. American Exceptionalism has been trashed by the Republican Party in exchange for a cult of personality calling for authoritarianism to feed a misplaced victim complex."
