BELLEVUE, NEBRASKA: A Nebraska man convicted of smothering and killing two young children was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole on Monday, May 6.

In February, Adam Lee Price was found guilty by a jury of murdering his 5-year-old daughter, Emily Price, and 3-year-old son, Theodore Price, before staging the incident to appear as a sleeping mishap in May 2021.

Did Adam Price show remorse during the investigation?

According to the case report, Price murdered the children, who were described as "best friends," at his Bellevue home before withdrawing cash from a bank and fleeing to California, where he was apprehended.

After being taken into custody, the double-murder suspect confessed that the killings were premeditated as per Law&Crime.

Testimony revealed that when a detective questioned whether the act of killing the children was more about himself than about them, the then-suspect Price responded, "Yes, it was not a spur of the moment thing."

The detective further testified that the convicted killer showed no remorse when asked if he would reconsider his actions given the chance to relive the day.

"I would do it again," Price reportedly replied.

What did the autopsy report conclude?

The medical examiner who performed the autopsies on Emily and Theodore concluded that the cause of death was asphyxiation.

Further, doctor informed authorities that the method Price used to kill his children required considerable time and effort.

According to medical experts, smothering typically takes approximately one minute to render someone unconscious, followed by an additional one to two minutes to cause death, as stated by prosecutors.

Neighbor found the dead children on May 16, 2021

Officers from the Bellevue Police Department responded twice to requests for a wellness check at Price's residence on Alberta Avenue, within the 2700 block, on the evening of May 15 and the early morning of May 16 in 2021, almost three years ago.

Mary Nielsen, the children's mother and Price's ex-wife, became concerned and contacted 911 after not hearing from her children for several days. Despite being divorced, Nielsen and Price shared custody of the children.

According to the custody-sharing agreement, each parent was required to maintain daily contact with the children while they were in the other parent's custody. The children were scheduled to spend a week with Price in Nebraska.

Mary Nielsen posted a message on her Facebook page at the time, expressing her concern: "If anyone has heard from Adam or seen him or the kids … or seen him post on Facebook in the last 24 hours can you please let me know? He’s supposed to contact me every day when he has the kids per court order and I haven’t heard from him in two days."

Following Nielsen's request, a neighbor entered Price's unlocked residence on the morning of May 16, 2021, and made the grim discovery, prompting authorities to launch a murder investigation.
