Adam Sandler officiates Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce Madison Square Garden wedding
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s reported wedding at Madison Square Garden drew attention after actor and comedian Adam Sandler allegedly stepped in as the officiant for the black-tie ceremony on Friday, July 3.
The ceremony reportedly broke from tradition, with the couple opting for a minimal wedding party setup instead of a formal arrangement. The event has since drawn wide interest due to its scale and the unexpected role played by Sandler.
Adam Sandler’s friendship with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, report says
According to a press release shared with PEOPLE, Swift’s brother Austin Swift served as her “man of honor,” while Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce stood as best man.
Sandler’s reported involvement comes after years of publicly praising Swift and developing ties with Kelce. He previously worked with Kelce on the 2025 film 'Happy Gilmore 2', where the Kansas City Chiefs tight end made a cameo appearance.
Sandler attended the premiere of Swift’s Eras Tour concert film in Los Angeles in October 2023 with his daughters Sunny and Sadie. Swift greeted the family warmly at the event, a moment Sandler later referenced in interviews.
In a February 2024 appearance on SiriusXM’s 'Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend', Sandler admitted Swift makes him unusually nervous due to how much her music means to his children.
"You know what, Taylor Swift, because what she means to my kids, I get a little jumpy. Just 'cause I don't wanna blow it for my kids," Sandler said adding, "So I'm a little like, 'Taylor, Taylor,' like I talk a little too loud or something. I don't stay as cool as I can."
He also shared how deeply her music is rooted in his household, saying, "There's not a word my kids don't know. I know them too, by the way. But they know them inside and out." In September 2024, Sandler revealed “The Best Day” as a personal favorite, noting its emotional connection with his family.
"Everything [my two daughters] throw on I love, but one of the first ones they threw on when they were young was 'The Best Day,'" he told Billboard adding, "We connected with that when the kids were young. Every album, we listen the first day it comes out. There's not a song they don't know every word to."
Adam Sandler on Travis Kelce and their on-screen collaboration
Sandler has also spoken highly of Kelce following their collaboration in 'Happy Gilmore 2'. At the film’s New York premiere in July 2025, he said his family was excited when Kelce joined the project.
"[My daughters] love Taylor, I love Taylor. Travis is just nice enough. He wanted to do something, so we wrote something for Travis. And when he said yes, my girls were very excited, including my wife. Everybody loves him," he said.
He described Kelce as warm and easygoing, comparing him to friends from his younger days. In another interview, Sandler called him “a stud,” praising both his personality and screen presence.
Sandler also said Kelce did not need relationship advice, noting he already had a strong bond with Swift and emphasizing that happiness and authenticity were key to lasting relationships.
