NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On a recent episode of 'Morning Joe', MSNBC host Joe Scarborough took aim at former President Donald Trump's apparent inability to adapt to the changing political and cultural landscape, citing his recent criticism of Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel as a prime example.

Scarborough highlighted Trump's use of his Truth Social platform to slam Kimmel's performance at the Oscars, describing it as a reflection of Trump's outdated tactics reminiscent of his 2016 campaign.

Donald Trump vs Jimmy Kimmel word-clash and political reflections on 'Morning Joe'

“Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars," Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, wrote the night of March 10.

“His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be," the former POTUS added.

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel responded to the criticism by firing back at the former President, saying, "Thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching," and then asking, "Isn’t it past your jail time?" eliciting a hearty laugh from the audience.

In light of the word clash, Scarborough said on 'Morning Joe', “That’s the thing, I guess he doesn’t understand. He just keeps walking into traps."

“It’s like an old fighter that’s past his prime,” he continued. “The things that may have worked, that may have been disruptive six, seven ― you know, 2016 ― everybody knows what’s coming", he said.

Trump was “the butt of the joke for millions and millions of people last night,” Scarborough added.

"Two things can be true. While he keeps losing and having problems along the way, especially legal problems, he's developing a whole new bench, a new generation of young, I would say, Republicans, but I think it's safe to call them Trumpers," added the co-host Mika Brzezinski.
