On the podcast, Alec Baldwin claimed that significant details about the 'Rust' shooting are yet to be disclosed.
“There’s more to come, but the more to come is now my effort, and it’s going to be undeniably a successful effort, to raise and to expose what really happened,” the 'Beetlejuice' actor said.
The tragedy occurred in October 2021 when Baldwin was holding a prop gun on the New Mexico set of the Joel Souza-directed film.
The gun accidentally discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injuring Souza, 51.
While Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger and was unaware of the presence of live ammunition in the gun, he was charged with manslaughter and faced trial in July 2023.
The case was dismissed on the third day of proceedings after the judge found that the prosecution had withheld evidence, according to People.
“The truth of what happened has never been told,” the actor emphasized.
Alec Baldwin's criticism of public backlash and cancel culture
Alec Baldwin also spoke about the intense scrutiny and hatred he has faced since the incident.
“In this country, when people hate you on that level, they want three things: They want you to die. They want you to go to prison. And they want you canceled,” he said.
Reflecting on his ordeal, Baldwin added, “I was counterpunching. I was on the defensive. I was being accused. I was being indicted.”
Alec Baldwin says wife Hilaria Baldwin was 'frustrated' over 'Rust' case
Through the tumultuous legal proceedings and public criticism, Alec Baldwin credited his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, for being his anchor.
"She is the most spiritually ascended human being I've ever met, and she was kind to me and supportive of me," Baldwin shared.
“She was frustrated. She was in pain. She suffered tremendously,” he said of Hilaria.
The couple share seven children, Carmen, 11, Rafael, nine, Leonardo, eight, Romeo, six, Eduardo, four, María, three, and Ilaria, two.
Baldwin also shares a daughter, Ireland, 29, with his ex-wife Kim Basinger.
Alec Baldwin on looking forward in personal and professional life
Despite the challenges, Alec Baldwin expressed relief that work opportunities are coming his way again.
“I’m happy about having work come my way because I have seven kids to support,” he said.
Baldwin also remarked on the unanswered questions surrounding the 'Rust' case due to the lack of a full trial.
“I’ve enjoyed the fact that there’s so much of this case that is not known,” he said.
