TURIN, ITALY: Alec Baldwin has sparked outrage by stating he will not watch the final cut of 'Rust', a film overshadowed by the tragic on-set shooting that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

In a recent interview with Variety, Baldwin discussed the emotional impact the incident has had on him and his family. He shared that his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, has been "traumatized" by the event, leading many to question his viewpoint on the tragedy.

Alec Baldwin opens up about 'most difficult' time in his life

Alec Baldwin, appearing weary but prepared to rejoin the festival circuit, spoke to Variety at the Torino Film Festival.

When asked whether he would watch the film upon its release, Baldwin explained, "Right now, no. Only because this is obviously the most difficult thing I’ve ever dealt with in my life. Beyond the victims themselves, the thing that most pains me is what it did to my wife."

"It’s very frightening and very disturbing. And we are trying to get the wind in our sails, to get away from this stuff. Because the film doesn’t stand by itself. It’s always going to be overshadowed by this," he went on to say.

Currently, Baldwin has expressed to Variety that he does not plan to view the final cut of the film; however, he is supportive of its success.

“I was sent a rough cut early on, before everything got a little more sticky and difficult. So I haven’t seen the film. But, again, I hope the film is released, that it comes out. That it makes its money back for its investors. You never want these people who believed in your project to be left high and dry,” he said.

"I hope the movie is sold, and that he [Matt Hutchins, Halyna’s husband] gets his money. We all made a deal with him and we all want to follow through. But this idea that people — who shall remain nameless — say, 'You are profiting from this!' That is absolutely wrong," he remarked.

Criticism mounts after Alec Baldwin reveals he will not watch 'Rust' final cut

Following the revelation on Facebook that Alec Baldwin will not watch the final cut of 'Rust', public criticism intensified against the actor in the wake of a grand jury's decision to indict him on involuntary manslaughter charges.

These charges are connected to the accidental fatal shooting of Hutchins on the set of the film in Santa Fe in 2021.

A user suggested, "Movie should have been canceled and Alec Baldwin should have been in jail. He was just as guilty as everyone else involved."

Another added, "He should keep Quiet !"

A third commented, "I can't believe he has the guts to release that movie. I hope no one sees it."

"Then he should scrap the entire movie. Js," wrote a critic.

A person claimed, "Oh yes it's painful for him. What a joke. Someone died by his hand and he wants empathy. He should be in prison."

Another added, "I don’t trust or believe anything he says."
