MIAMI, FLORIDA: A man shot and fatally wounded his girlfriend, placed her body in the passenger seat of his SUV, and drove to the Florida City police station to turn himself into authorities.

Alexander Roque, 48, admitted to the murder of his girlfriend, 44-year-old Yessenia Rodriguez Marquez, who was found shot to death with a bullet wound to the head on April 20. Roque was arrested and charged with second-degree murder before being incarcerated on April 21.

Alexander Roque sent photo of Yessenia Marquez's lifeless body to her ex

Roque made an appearance in court, where Judge Mindy S Glazer denied him bond and bashed him for allegedly sending a picture of Marquez's lifeless body to his cousin. According to the Daily Mail, officers surrounded Roque's white car and arrested him without resistance. The weapon of murder was found next to Marquez's body.

Roque reached out to Marquez's ex-husband before driving to the police station and turning himself in. Roque sent her ex, with whom he had an 11-year-old daughter, a photo of her lifeless body before initiating a phone call. The ex recorded the call and gave it to the police as evidence. During the phone call, Roque allegedly showed Marquez dead in the blood-soaked front passenger seat, just as she had been found by the cops.

Cops said that Roque then texted his cousin pictures of Marquez's body, who then urged Roque to turn himself in.

Cops outside the police station told Roque to step out of his car, where they found Marquez shot in the head. First responders tried to resuscitate Marquez but were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Miami-Dade Police’s homicide division has taken over the investigation and will look into Roque’s alleged motive for killing his girlfriend.

Marquez's former sister-in-law claims that months before the killing, Roque abducted Marquez and her young daughter. Marquez's ex-husband and the father of their daughter intervened and secured their release. Unfortunately, their efforts were insufficient to prevent Marquez's death.
