Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shuts down pregnancy rumors with response that's both hilarious and no-nonsense
WASHINGTON, DC: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is once again proving she’s not just a hot-blooded political powerhouse but also a queen of shutting down nonsense.
The progressive firebrand recently took to social media to address swirling rumors about her being pregnant, and her response was equal parts hilarious and no-nonsense.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shuts down pregnancy rumors saying she had a lot of food at Thanksgiving
The drama began when a follower asked if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was pregnant because she was "glowing."
Taking to her Instagram Stories to address the question, the New York Rep said, "Everyone keeps asking me if I’m pregnant," before noting that the baby buzz had made its way into Congress as well.
"Even a Republican member of Congress asked me on the House floor last week," she shared, rolling her eyes. "I'm not pregnant guys. I had a lot of food at Thanksgiving, OK? It happens," Ocasio-Cortez quipped, putting the rumors to rest.

She says, “I’m not pregnant guys. I had a lot of food at Thanksgiving.”
AOC has looked noticeably heavier for months now, well before Thanksgiving.
And she’s also a pathological liar. pic.twitter.com/3ij1Gvs01r
Of course, this isn’t the first time AOC has been the target of such speculation. Far-right activist Laura Loomer fanned the flames of the pregnancy rumor mill before this year's election, claiming the 35-year-old was hiding a "baby bump" while pushing for abortion rights.
Loomer even invited AOC to appear on her show. "I would love to talk about your baby bump and your abortion push," she snarked.
After the Democrat's election victory, Loomer doubled down with another post on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "The election is over. You can come out and finally admit you’re pregnant. Or are you waiting till the 9th month to abort? The election is over, cupcake."

The election is over. You can come out and finally admit you’re pregnant.
Or are you waiting till the 9th month to abort?
The election is over, cupcake.
For those wondering about the man at the center of this faux-baby drama, AOC has been engaged to Riley Roberts since 2022. The two met as undergrads at Boston University.
Roberts has made a few public appearances—like the 2021 Met Gala, where the congresswoman turned heads in her now-iconic "Tax the Rich" dress—but mostly he stays out of the limelight, as per the Daily Mail.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's recent setbacks and Nancy Pelosi's power moves
Pregnancy rumors weren’t the only buzz around Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez this week. She made a bid to become a top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee but lost to Rep Gerry Connolly, a more senior member.
The race wasn’t without its share of intrigue, with reports swirling that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had been "actively working to tank" AOC’s chances.
According to Punchbowl News, Pelosi wasn’t just endorsing Connolly—she was making calls behind the scenes to rally support for him.
"Pelosi has made her support for Connolly publicly known. But her behind-the-scenes maneuvering shows the amount of political capital Pelosi’s willing to put into the contest," the outlet wrote.
Connolly eventually won by a 131–84 margin, leaving AOC to graciously concede.
"The party made its decision. I respect the outcome of the results," she told reporters. "I ran the best race I could. We’re moving forward."
Even Donald Trump couldn’t resist throwing his two cents. The President-elect posted on Truth Social, "Really too bad that AOC lost the Battle for the Leadership Seat in the Democrat Party. She should keep trying. Someday, she will be successful!"
AOC clapped back on X: "Damn you know it’s bad when even Trump is feeling bad for me," adding a cry-laughing emoji for good measure.
