NEW HAVEN, INDIANA: A 33-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of her husband whom she allegedly killed and behaved 'oddly' when paramedics arrived at their residence on Douglas Lane.

Police officials took Alison Kelly Davis into custody after they found inconsistencies in her narration of the events leading to the death of her husband, 40-year-old Kevin Ray Davis.

Alison Kelly Davis also exhibited laughter and an apparent lack of concern for her deceased husband, who was found in a pool of blood, and displayed peculiar behavior as medics removed the deceased from the residence.

Subsequent investigation unraveled the events leading to the demise of Kevin Davis as per Law&Crime.

Alison Davis provided varying accounts of how her husband died

Authorities responded to the Davis residence in the 1700 block of Douglas Lane at approximately 4.38 am on August 12, where they discovered Kevin Davis lying at the base of the stairs in a pool of blood.

He was in critical condition and, later that afternoon, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

Alison Davis reportedly provided varying accounts of how her husband ended up at the foot of the stairs.

According to investigators, one version indicated that the couple had been drinking at a bar, returned home around 1 am, had a disagreement, and decided to sleep in separate areas. Allegedly, she heard a "thud" and found him at the bottom of the stairs.

What did Kevin Davis’ mother report?

Kevin Davis’ mother, however, said that Alison Davis told her that Kevin Davis had not been drinking that night.

The defendant also allegedly told her brother-in-law that she was in bed with their dog while her husband went walking around the home.

And though Alison Davis allegedly told her mother-in-law and brother-in-law about hearing a sound that night, she told medics that she did not hear anything and that it had been a while since she had seen her husband before the discovery of his body.

What did the court documents say?

According to New Haven police, Alison Davis, the wife of Kevin Davis, displayed unusual and inappropriate behavior when paramedics arrived at their home to attend to her critically injured husband.

Court documents obtained by Fort Wayne CBS affiliate WANE state, "At one point the Defendant was laughing with Medics and did not seem concerned about her husband’s injuries.”

Investigators alleged that she provided varying accounts to different individuals regarding how her husband, Kevin Ray Davis, sustained injuries consistent with falling down stairs.

This, coupled with investigators finding Kevin Davis' injuries to be inconsistent with a fall, led to prosecutors formally charging Alison Davis with murder on Wednesday.

Authorities stated, "Due to the nature of the injury and Defendant’s inconsistent statements your affiant believes and has evidence to support that the Defendant knowingly and intentionally caused the death of Kevin Davis,”

Kevin Davis suffered severe head injuries, and his core body temperature was dangerously low, indicating potential hypothermia by the time he reached the hospital.

The autopsy revealed a crushed right side of his skull and depressions consistent with blunt force trauma.

Alison Davis was incarcerated in the Allen County Jail on Friday with no bond, as per records.
