DULUTH, MINNESOTA: A Minnesota murderer is facing charges related to the fentanyl overdose death of a teenager, as reported by WDIO.

Police in Duluth have announced that Allyson Sheffield is facing third-degree murder charges in connection with the death of an 18-year-old woman over the summer, as stated in a press release.

Sheffield's arrest is a result of the police investigation into the fatal overdose of the teen that took place on June 18.

What did the authorities say?

“A blue M30 pill and a baggie with crushed blue powder were located and seized, and it was determined the pill and powder contained traces of fentanyl,” the police statement said.

“An autopsy was done on the 18-year-old female, and it revealed that her death was attributed to fentanyl toxicity.”

When did Sheffield deliver the pills to the victim?

The investigation pointed to Sheffield, who is accused of "delivering the pills to the individual the evening before her death," according to the statement.

Sheffield is also suspected of selling drugs to "multiple other individuals" in Duluth.

Sheffield was also hit with a felony charge

According to jail records, Sheffield is facing not only a felony charge of murder but also a drug-selling charge.

Minnesota court records show that Sheffield had a prior misdemeanor conviction for speeding before her arrest on the murder charge.

Based on the latest CDC data, Minnesota recorded 1,356 drug overdose deaths in 2021. Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, is acknowledged as a significant factor contributing to drug overdoses in the United States.

Arizona father faces child abuse charges after son dies of suspected fentanyl overdose

As reported earlier by Meaww, the Phoenix community is shaken by the death of a 2-year-old boy due to a suspected fentanyl overdose.

The deceased child's father, 27-year-old Oswaldo Lozano, is now charged with negligent homicide, child abuse, and drug possession.

The sequence of tragic events transpired on the evening of Friday, December 1, when Phoenix police responded to a call at Banner University Medical Center concerning a child in distress.

Upon arrival, officers observed a truck hastily parked outside the hospital entrance, with drug paraphernalia strewn across the floor.

Hospital staff reached out to the police when a 2-year-old patient could not be revived and was declared dead.

The boy's father, 27-year-old Oswaldo Lozano, who was present at the hospital, later confessed to detectives that he was grappling with a severe fentanyl addiction.

Lozano admitted that he had been watching his son that afternoon at their home when he fell asleep on the couch after taking fentanyl pills.

After waking up, Lozano discovered his son lying unconscious on the floor, surrounded by the hazardous pills.

Lozano mentioned that he attempted to revive his son by injecting Narcan and performing chest compressions without success.

In a desperate bid to save his son's life, he called his employer and wife for assistance before driving the unresponsive toddler to the hospital. Unfortunately, it was too late, as the pills had already proven to be lethal.
