LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: 33-year-old Amanda Stamper has pleaded guilty to child abuse charges after her children were discovered locked in dog cages.
The shocking incident led to Stamper's arrest and a subsequent legal battle that exposed disturbing details of abuse and neglect.
How did the tragic scenario unfold?
According to the messenger, the horrifying discovery unfolded on June 11 when Stamper, along with her husband, 31-year-old Travis Doss, was arrested after the former called the police from a drugstore, expressing fear of her spouse.
Responding to the call, police arrived at the couple's apartment, where they found two children confined in a dog cage—bruised and severely undernourished.
Doss, an aspiring rapper who performs under the name 'Trap Montana' reportedly informed law enforcement that he was punishing one of the children for stealing food from the refrigerator.
The conditions in which the children were found were appalling, with one of them unable to walk independently after being freed. The child displayed black eyes, swollen shut, and was covered in bruises, described as "emaciated."
Medical professionals later noted that the child would have faced a fatal outcome without immediate medical intervention.
What are the charges against the disgraced couple?
Stamper alleged that Doss frequently subjected the children to punishment, often using extension cords and belts for physical abuse.
Doss, indicted on July 13, faced 33 child abuse charges and two kidnapping charges. Stamper also received indictments.
Stamper, who signed a plea agreement on December 7, agreed to plead guilty to three felony counts of child abuse, neglect, or endangerment.
The terms of the agreement indicate that she will face a prison term ranging from 1 to 6 years for each count.
Furthermore, Stamper revealed that she engaged in sex work to financially support Doss. This revelation led to additional charges for Doss, including sex trafficking and living off the earnings of a prostitute.
Doss is expected to appear in court in February 2024.
