WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently engaged in a charged debate during a Senate hearing on Wednesday, April 2, Mediaite reported.

The senators were discussing "legislative solutions to the bipartisan problem of universal injunctions” when Klobuchar and Cruz clashed over the legality of injunctions filed by judges against President Donald Trump and his agenda across the United States.

Senators Amy Klobuchar and Ted Cruz clash at Senate hearing

The Senate hearing was temporarily paused on Wednesday, April 2, when Amy Klobuchar and Ted Cruz engaged in a heated debate at one point, speaking over each other.

The spat began with the GOP senator claiming that the injuctions on some of POTUS' executive orders, which limit them based on current law, are politically motivated "abuse of power.”

Klobuchar's time to speak at the hearing came right after Cruz finished his speech. She began her speech defending the action of judges, saying, "The only reason there’s all of these injunctions, Senator Cruz is because he (Trump) is violating the Constitution. Why would Trump appoint judges who...”

Before she could finish her sentence, Cruz interjected, "Why don’t you file them in red districts?”

Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) attempted to shut down the debate before it broke, but to no avail.

“What did you just say?” Klobuchar asked Cruz, to which he replied, "Why don’t you file them in red districts? Why are the Democratic attorneys general seeking out left-wing...”

Cruz's rant was interrupted by Moody as well as Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). As Moody called a “point of order” and asked Klobuchar to resume her time, Cruz quipped, "Senator Moody, we have debates on this committee. They occur regularly."

"Let’s let her have her time, and we’ll get back to you, Senator Cruz,” Moody responded.

Resuming her speech, Klobuchar said, "It’s so exciting to be following Senator Cruz once again," before telling a reportedly confused Moody that they had a history of arguing at hearings.

"I will take more than my time since he’s taking more than his time to yell at me," Klobuchar added before getting started on the subject.
