WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Ted Cruz was the target of mockery after he took to social media to declare that a red Tesla was "the coolest thing" he had ever seen.

This follows Donald Trump's bizarre showcase of Tesla vehicles on the South Lawn of the White House on March 11.

In a show of support for his senior advisor and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, the president turned the White House lawn into an impromptu Tesla showroom.

Ted Cruz posts a picture with a red Tesla

Ted Cruz took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, March 14, to share a photo of him in a blue suit and glasses, with one hand pointing toward a red Tesla parked near the White House.

He captioned the image, "This may be the coolest thing I've ever seen."

Cruz appeared to be standing about 10 feet away from the car in the picture, as per Buzzfeed. The senator's post has garnered over 16.5 million views, 15,000 comments, 11,000 reshares, and 101,000 likes.

Having said that, Cruz wasn't the only one praising Tesla vehicles.

At the March 11 White House event, Trump, gushed over them, calling the vehicles "beautiful," showing special admiration for the company’s uniquely designed Cybertruck. "As soon as I saw it, I said, 'That is the coolest design,'" the MAGA spearhead said.

It's not the first time Trump has shown interest in Musk's electric vehicles. During his campaign last year, he mentioned hearing positive things about Teslas from his friends, as per NBC News

Pointing to a red Model S, he said, "The one I like is that one, and I want the same color." While Trump didn’t take a test drive, he hinted that he might do so "another time."

According to the Tesla website, the all-wheel-drive Model S starts at $73,490, while the ultra-high-performance Plaid variant begins at $88,490.

One said, "There is nothing remotely cool in this picture Theodore," and another wrote, "This may be one of the creepiest, most corrupt-looking things I’ve ever seen."

A person asked, "So you’ve never seen a Daytona Coupe?" attaching a picture of the well-loved car. "You’ve never seen a Tesla before?  Well it’s been out for like 10 years and it hasn’t it even changed body styles once. Basically an old car," someone else remarked.

An individual quipped, "This may be the most sycophantic bollocks I’ve ever seen…" "You need to get out more," read another comment.
