'An everything hurts situation': Grace Jabbari unveils injuries during testimony against ex Jonathan Majors
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jonathan Majors' ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari reportedly unveiled her injuries from his alleged assault in court for the first time, asserting that Majors had anger management issues while preparing for his Marvel role.
Jabbari testified on Wednesday, December 6 about the "considerable" pain she endured after Majors allegedly attacked her in a taxi's backseat earlier this year. Photos of Jabbari’s injuries were presented to a Manhattan jury for the first time.
On her second day of testimony, an emotional Jabbari recounted the alleged assault by Majors, which resulted in her hair being matted with blood, a swollen ear, and a nearly black middle finger.
What did Grace Jabbari reveal?
Jabbari revealed that Majors was "full of rage and aggression" while preparing for his role last summer, occasionally hurling objects at the wall during their regular disputes.
She confessed that she had been conditioned to take the blame in an attempt to pacify his "volatile temper" throughout their relationship.
"When I was trying to sleep, I was very aware that I couldn't lie on the right side of my head," She said of her injuries. "It was an everything hurts situation."
The 30-year-old British choreographer documented her injuries, a bruised finger and a reddened ear, in text messages that she sent to a friend. These messages were presented in court on Wednesday.
Throughout the proceedings, Majors maintained a stoic demeanor, occasionally glancing at Jabbari. However, he seemed to deliberately avoid looking at the photos of the injuries, per Daily Mail.
'Magazine Dreams' reportedly postponed
Jonathan Majors, a Marvel actor, was reportedly arrested last March following a heated dispute with his girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in a chauffeured car.
The argument escalated to physical assault, with Majors allegedly injuring Jabbari.
Despite pleading not guilty to the charges of assault and harassment, the incident has allegedly cast a shadow over Majors' career, affecting his upcoming roles and film releases.
'Magazine Dreams', which was initially set to hit the screens on December 8, 2023, has now been postponed to an unspecified date.
Grace Jabbari's approach
On Wednesday, Jabbari narrated how she adopted a similar strategy following the alleged attack.
"I wanted him to know that I wasn't trying to get him in trouble," Jabbari stated. "In the past, when I would put the blame on me it was a solution for the both of us."
Jabbari also expressed concern about how Majors would be treated by the police. She told the jury, "He had told me in the past about not trusting the police and what they would do to him as a Black man, and I didn't want to put him in that situation."
What did Jonathan Majors' attorney say?
Majors' attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has suggested that the actor's race might have played a role in his arrest and prosecution. During her cross-examination on Wednesday, Chaudhry attempted to portray Jabbari as a resentful partner who relied on alcohol to manage stress.
The attorney also reportedly implied that Jabbari might have forgotten crucial details about the night of the alleged assault due to intoxication.
In response to Chaudhry's line of questioning, Jabbari admitted that she had consumed several drinks with Majors before the altercation occurred, per Daily Mail.
After the altercation in the backseat, Majors allegedly left the scene with his phone. Jabbari then sought help from a group of bystanders who "welcomed" her and invited her to a nightclub.
She admitted to having tequila shots with these strangers before eventually returning home and vomiting in the bathroom. She attempted to contact Majors several times before finally falling asleep.
"I was exhausted, lying on the bed feeling the pain in my body but really desperate to speak to him," Jabbari stated. "It's confusing when the person you love betrays you in that way. I was just heartbroken."
Jabbari's cross-examination is scheduled to continue on Thursday.
