NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Ana Navarro took a jab at President Donald Trump’s speech on Wednesday, December 17, saying that he sounded like an "angry old man shouting from the hills."
The POTUS’s speech was framed by the White House as an update on Trump’s accomplishments and included the unveiling of a new 1776-themed initiative aimed at supporting military families.
Ana Navarro calls Trump speech wasteful
Ana Navarro appeared on CNN’s 'Newsnight with Abby Phillip' and shared her take on President Donald Trump’s speech. She said, "There is no reason why anybody should have wasted 18 minutes of their lives that they're not going to get back."
"It was an angry old man shouting from the hills, shouting at the kids to get off their lawn," the 'The View' co-host added, mocking the president for his tone during the speech.
Trump’s speech was packed with sweeping assertions, many of which drew immediate scrutiny from people on the internet. One of his claims was that his administration had reduced prescription drug prices by as much as 600 percent. He also boasted that gasoline prices had dropped below $2.50 a gallon across large swaths of the country.
Speaking at a relentless pace, the POTUS repeatedly raised his voice, leaned into emphatic gestures, and appeared to shout portions of the speech, even as he stood behind the presidential lectern in the White House.
CNN’s John King also weighed in on the president’s tone during the broadcast, saying that Trump was "shouting at times" and appeared "a little angry."
