LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Andrew Garfield, known for his role in 'The Amazing Spider-Man', has revealed that he has a secret Instagram account, despite not having a public social media presence. The actor opened up about his private use of the platform and admitted that he is 'as addicted as anybody.'
Garfield also discussed his screen time and the amount of time he spends on his phone, saying that his screen time notifications are 'horrific' to him.

Garfield revealed that he has a secret Instagram account that he uses privately. While discussing his relationship with social media, the actor acknowledged that he is not immune to the amount of time people can spend scrolling.
"I'm as addicted as anybody. My screen time notifications are horrific to me. It's like, I've given all of those hours to nothing," he said.
Garfield also spoke about the difficulty of controlling the impulses that keep people returning to social media.
"It's genuinely enraging because we don't have as much control over these impulses as we should, and it's been by design. It's pretty dark when you look at it," he said.

Garfield also revealed the type of content he can end up viewing on his private account. He said he can fall down rabbit holes involving 'weird ceramics' and 'lots of Japanese kind of craftspeople.'
The actor also spoke about the effect of phones on people's lives and acknowledged the urge to get away from them.
"I think we've all had the impulse to smash our phones or throw it into the forest or throw it into the sea because we know it's taking our lives from us in some way," he said.
Garfield said that keeping his phone in another room can help reduce the amount of time he spends using it.
"I'm not better than anybody else. I've been told, and I find it to be true, that if you leave your phone in another room, that does a lot of the heavy lifting," he said.
Garfield's comments offered a glimpse into how he navigates his own social media and smartphone use.
