Andy Ogles calls for investigation of NFL and NBC over Bad Bunny’s ‘indecent’ halftime performance
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Republican congressman Andy Ogles has requested a formal congressional investigation into Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime performance aired on Sunday, February 8, citing concerns over “explicit and indecent content.”
The request specifically targets the National Football League (NFL) and NBCUniversal, questioning what they knew about the performance in advance and whether they facilitated the broadcast of content inappropriate for family viewing.

Andy Ogles demands congressional oversight and accountability
In a statement shared on X Monday evening, Ogles urged the Energy and Commerce Committee to lead an investigation into the Super Bowl halftime show.
He wrote, “I write to request that you open a formal congressional inquiry, consistent with the Committee’s jurisdiction over broadcast regulation and FCC oversight, into the National Football League (NFL) and NBCUniversal regarding their prior knowledge, review and approval of explicit and indecent content broadcast during the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show.”
Ogles emphasized the significance of the event, noting that the Super Bowl is “consistently the largest family viewing event in American media.”
He added that, therefore, broadcasters “bear a heightened responsibility to ensure that programming aired during this uniquely national event complies with longstanding broadcast decency expectations and serves the public interest.”
He singled out the performances of song Safaera, which he described as “a track widely known for explicit s*xual references and graphic lyrical content,” and “Yo Perreo Sola,” criticizing its “choreography featuring overtly s*xualized movements, including widespread twerking, grinding, pelvic thrusts and other s*xually suggestive conduct.”
According to Ogles, the performance being primarily in Spanish did not reduce its explicit nature. He stated, “This language barrier did not mitigate the explicit nature of the material. Rather, it heightened the broadcasters’ obligation to exercise reasonable diligence in reviewing, translating and evaluating the content prior to airing.”
Andy Ogles criticism of Super Bowl Halftime Show
Ogles also raised concerns about potential inconsistencies in applying broadcast standards to non-English content, especially where enforcement depends on public complaints and broadcaster-provided translations.
He expressed skepticism that the NFL and NBCUniversal were unaware of the content in Bad Bunny’s set, highlighting that the performance involved rehearsals and advance production directives.
Expanding on his complaint on social media, he labeled the halftime show “pure smut” and claimed it was “brazenly aired on national television for every American family to witness.”
He further criticized the explicit elements of the performance, stating, “Children were forced to endure explicit displays of gay s*xual acts, women gyrating provocatively, and Bad Bunny shamelessly grabbing his crotch while dry-h**mping the air.”
