Fact Check: Did Kid Rock overtake Bad Bunny for top song on iTunes despite Apple’s promotion?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On Sunday, February 8, Kid Rock headlined an alternative, unofficial 'All-American Halftime Show' organized by Turning Point USA as counterprogramming to Bad Bunny's Super Bowl LX performance.
Following this, an X post claimed that Kid Rock overtook Bad Bunny for the top song on iTunes despite Apple’s promotion. But is there any truth to this claim? Let us find out below.
Claim: Kid Rock overtook Bad Bunny for top song on iTunes
Political commentator Benny Johnson took to X and wrote, "BREAKING: Music Industry is Shook as Kid Rock OVERTAKES Bad Bunny for the Top Song in the World. This is despite Apple’s nonstop promotion of Bad Bunny. We have the power to change culture."
In the post, Johnson also attached a screenshot of the iTunes chart that showed Kid Rock's cover of Til You Can’t was at the top and Bad Bunny’s DtMF was at number 3.

Interestingly, Kid Rock closed his performance at the TPUSA All-American Halftime Show with the song, to which he added a verse from the original version.
Moreover, a studio version of the song was released at midnight, as Kid Rock said, "A big thank you to Cody Johnson and the songwriters Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers for giving me there blessing to record and release it, It really is one of the best written songs I have heard in a long time and NOTHING is more powerful than a great song in my book!"
Fact Check: Partly true, Kid Rock topped the chart in the US
The claims made in the X post are partly true, as Kid Rock's song is indeed number 1 on the US iTunes Top Songs chart, but not globally. The surge happened hours after Kid Rock performed the song at the TPUSA 'All-American Halftime Show'.
The surge was heavily boosted by conservative audiences' downloads in solidarity. However, it's the US downloads chart only as Bad Bunny dominates streaming/global metrics post his Super Bowl performance.
Bad Bunny had 23 songs in Apple Music Daily Top 100 Global and dominated Spotify US Daily Top Songs. There was also a 470%+ US stream increase and 210% global.
Moreover, the community note on the X post read, "The picture shows top iTunes downloads for the United States, not the world. Currently on the worldwide chart's Bad Bunny's DtMF is rated the top song on iTunes as of February 9, 2026. Kid Rock's 'Til You Can't is rated number 34 in the world."
