Ann Coulter slammed for supporting Trump's decision to deport criminals after criticizing him for years

WASHINGTON, DC: Political commentator Ann Coulter, who earlier criticized President Donald Trump's administration's plans to deport green card holders over pro-Palestine protests, seems to have rejoined the POTUS train after years of criticism.
Coulter took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, April 9, and praised Donald Trump's decision to send violent American offenders to El Salvador prisons, the Daily Mail reported.
Ann Coulter sides with Donald Trump after years of criticism
Ann Coulter, who is known for her vocal opinions, initially supported Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign but later became one of his most outspoken critics, OK! Magazine reported.
However, her recent social media post shows something else. Coulter took to X on Wednesday to share an article where Trump was considering deporting American citizens who are violent criminals to an El Salvador prison and wrote, "Trump 2 is AWESOME!"
Interestingly, Coulter was one of Trump's first followers, according to Daily Mail.
Moreover, she was the first mainstream pundit to predict that Trump would win in 2016 in her 2015 book 'Adios, America', and was credited with heavily influencing his policymaking on immigration, per the outlet.
However, Coulter and Trump's relationship soured after the author accused the POTUS of breaking promises surrounding the southern border.
Regarding Trump's plans to deport American offenders, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a recent briefing, "So, the president has discussed this idea quite a few times publicly. He’s also discussed it privately."

She continued, "These would be heinous, violent criminals who have broken our nation’s laws repeatedly, and these are violent repeat offenders in American streets."
She added that the deportations would only take place if the law allows, and added that Trump and his administration are doubtful it would pass legal scrutiny.
Ann Coulter disagrees with Donald Trump's plans to deport green card holders
In March 2025, Ann Coulter seemed to disagree with the Trump administration's plans to deport green card holders for participating in pro-Palestinian protests, the Daily Beast reported.
There’s almost no one I don’t want to deport, but, unless they’ve committed a crime, isn’t this a violation of the first amendment? https://t.co/PJxc1FQafU

She wrote on X, "There’s almost no one I don’t want to deport, but, unless they’ve committed a crime, isn’t this a violation of the first amendment?"
Her post was in response to a New York Post article that claimed pro-Israel organization Betar had prepared a list of "pro-Hamas" students whom they wished Trump would deport.

One person asked, "How can you be happy about that?" whereas another mentioned, "Except you don't know anything about these men. Minor problem, due process and all."

Meanwhile, some people took to the comments section of the Daily Mail article to express their views on the same.
"If you give a opinion and no one cares does it matter? Her opinions have been irrelevant for at least a decade," asked one person, while another declared, "We don't need her."
Another individual added, "Coulter just needed to cool down a bit. She clearly needs the publicity, too."
