WASHINGTON, DC: Anthony Fauci has dismissed worries over Donald Trump's health following the attempted assassination against him during a rally in  Pennsylvania.

Speaking to CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Friday, July 19, the former chief medical adviser addressed the former president's health post-shooting as he said, “I don’t think there is much more to it."

“I mean, from what we’ve seen and what we’ve heard, it was … a bullet shot that grazed his ear and injured his ear," added Fauci who has served under both the Trump and Biden administrations.

Assassination attempt against Donald Trump

Fauci's comments come a week after a 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks climbed a roof in the vicinity of the Pennsylvania rally where Trump was speaking and fired shots.

The former president was grazed on the ear by a bullet while one event attendee was killed and two others were critically wounded.

During the incident in Butler, Crooks was fatally shot by the authorities, according to the Secret Service.

Fauci stated that according to the physicians who examined Trump determined that there was no further damage, reported The Hill.

Anthony Fauci says Donald Trump is 'in the clear'

Despite the severity of the situation, Fauci noted that Donald Trump is “in the clear” regarding the “bullet itself.”

“As far as I can see, I mean, it’s dangerous to make diagnoses from a distance. From what I’m seeing, the way he’s acting now and what his physicians report saw, it seems to have been a superficial wound to the ear and that’s all,” he added.

Trump formally accepted the GOP presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention (RNC) just days after the assassination attempt.

Throughout the RNC event in Milwaukee, the 78-year-old politician wore a large white bandage on his right ear. However, he has not provided a formal update regarding his recovery or any lingering effects from the shooting.

Internet blasts Anthony Fauci as he dismisses Donald Trump's health concerns after assassination attempt

After Fauci commented on Trump's health following the attempted shooting and dismissed as a "superficial wound," netizens slammed the former chief medical officer for denouncing the former president's health concerns and the severity of the attempted assassination.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "Yes, luckily, it is superficial. That does not negate it was an attempted murder. Does Fauci need a gut shot or pink mist to have that intent have meaning?" while another user wrote, "Superficial." Much like Anthony Fauci's understanding of virology."

"Fauci, you should sit this one out in prison," a netizen commented and a netizen commented, " 'Superficial' — just like Fauci’s recommendations."

"The actual wound may be superficial but as an alleged doctor Fauci should know the wound itself is less important than the psychological effect of nearly being killed in such circumstances and knowing it won’t stop and will be attempted again," a netizen tweeted.
