CHAPPAQUA, NEW YORK: Former President Bill Clinton was called to testify in the investigation surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and participated in the probe. During the review of Epstein case files, he was shown various images and asked to respond to questions about them.
At one point, Clinton’s attention lingered on a particular photograph, which seemed to amuse him. He was seen smiling and chuckling as he looked at the image. Before giving his testimony, he stated that he had done nothing wrong and appeared to answer all questions posed to him during the examination.
Bill Clinton chuckles during Epstein probe as he checks old photos
During questioning over the Epstein investigation in front of the GOP-led House Oversight Committee, Clinton was shown photos from the files. While it is unclear exactly which image sparked his reaction, Clinton appeared amused and shared a story about the moment captured.
At one point, his attorney tried to take the photo away, but Clinton held on briefly, creating a tug-of-war. His expressions were noticeable. He smiled and chuckled while studying the image closely, clearly focused, even with his attorney sitting beside him.
Previously, Clinton maintained that he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities until Epstein’s 2008 conviction in Florida. He insisted he would have reported Epstein sooner if he had known about any wrongdoing.
Despite the serious nature of the testimony, the image seemed to trigger a moment of nostalgia for Clinton during the more than six hours he spent answering questions from the House committee.
Separately, Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, was also deposed in connection with the Epstein case. Her session lasted six hours as well, taking place a day before Bill's testimony.
Bill Clinton says only medical findings explain Epstein’s death
Clinton admitted he doesn’t know whether Epstein killed himself, telling lawmakers that his understanding comes solely from the official medical findings.
During a tense exchange with Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert at the GOP-led House Oversight Committee on Friday, February 27, Boebert asked directly if Clinton believed Epstein tended to take his own life. Clinton responded, “I don’t know. I only know what the medical finding was. I’ve accepted it in my own mind. I don’t know what happened.”
When pressed further on whether he personally accepts that Epstein ended his life, Clinton said, “That he did. But I don’t know. Neither do you. None of us knows.”
