On October 4, Antonio Shaw, 63, visited a home on North 62nd Street in West Philadelphia and two of the five pit bulls at the residence attacked him.

Due to a series of strokes that left him non-verbal, Shaw couldn't call for help. Two months later, he succumbed to the injuries sustained in the attack.

Sharese Jackson, Shaw's sister, described the nature of the attack, stating, "These dogs were very vicious and hungry. They were eating him like a piece of steak."

A neighbor eventually witnessed the attack and called 911. Upon the police's arrival, one of the dogs was shot, and the other was injured. The second dog was later euthanized by animal control.

Emergency personnel rushed Shaw to the hospital, where his pre-existing health issues exacerbated the effects of the attack. Despite undergoing 15 surgeries, as reported by his sister, Shaw passed away on December 4.

Antonio Shaw’s siblings share their emotions

After the dog attack that led to Antonia Shaw's death, one of his siblings revealed, "He had to undergo leg amputation due to the dog bites and subsequent infections in his body from those bites."

Another sibling, Jackson, added, "It didn't go well for him. He was holding on, but the situation took a turn for the worse." Shaw, a father of three, was deeply cherished by those close to him.

Jackson expressed, "My brother Antonio was a wonderful person who loved his children and family. We want Antonio to know that we love him, he will never be forgotten, and he was a great person." Shaw emphasized, "He was outstanding. Everyone loved him, and everyone is going to miss him."

As of now, no charges have been filed against the owners of the house, according to authorities. Shaw's family is currently seeking to raise approximately $3,000 on GoFundMe to cover the funeral expenses.

Jackson wrote, "We have some funds, but not enough to cover his service. So, I ask if you can help this family so we can have a proper homegoing for my brother."
