WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent appearance on 'The Late Show' with Stephen Colbert, Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) didn't hold back when she named the Democrat she believes is getting under the skin of Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen JD Vance (R-Ohio), and driving them "nuts."

That Democrat? Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president.

AOC hails Tim Walz as the true ‘upright man'

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised Tim Walz for challenging the traditional image of masculinity that Donald Trump and JD Vance seem to cling to. "I think that Trump and Vance, they think they have some kind of monopoly over masculinity," she quipped.

“And Walz has kinda shown up — he’s a football coach, he was the head of the gay-straight alliance as the football coach. And he’s like, ‘Actually, this stuff is weird, and why are you acting like that?’ And I think it’s driving ’em nuts, because he’s showing another way to be an upright man in America.”

Trump fires back at Walz, calling him a ‘whack job’

The tension between the two camps has only escalated. Walz has dubbed Trump and Vance as "weird," a label that’s quickly gaining traction among Democrats. The former president, never one to shy away from a verbal battle, shot back during a factory visit, calling Walz a "whack job" and dismissing his "weird" comment as ironic.

“This whack job. You know, he said we’re ‘weird.’ That JD and I are ‘weird.’ I think we’re extremely normal people. Like you,” Trump said. “He’s weird. Did you ever see him go on the stage and go like crazy? Between his movement and her laugh, there’s a lot of craziness. I’d say a step further than ‘weird.’ ‘Weird’ is a nice word by comparison,” per The Hill.

Trump camp accuses Dems of pushing ‘radical’ policies

As Vice President Kamala Harris and Tim Walz bask in the spotlight following their Democratic National Convention appearances, the stakes are higher than ever. The Republican camp, however, is far from impressed. Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung lambasted the Democratic convention as "low energy" and filled with "disgusting personal attacks."

“The [Democratic convention] is definitely low energy and low impact, with Democrats screaming and yelling with no message other than disgusting personal attacks and outright lies. Contrast that with the [Republican convention] and President Trump who has offered a positive vision for America,” Cheung said.

Meanwhile, Vance spokesperson Luke Schroeder took aim at the policies backed by AOC, Harris, and Walz, warning “all support the radically liberal policies that created sky high prices and allowed deadly fentanyl to pour across our southern border.”

“Tim Walz even signed a bill into law that can strip custody from parents who object to their children receiving ‘gender transition’ treatments. Americans can’t afford four more years of their crazy, radical, far left policies,” Schroeder said.
