WASHINGTON, DC: On Tuesday, April 7, Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed President Trump’s two-week ceasefire with Iran, stating that the ceasefire "changes nothing" regarding the administration's actions.

AOC argued that the temporary ceasefire does not erase the "catastrophic consequence" of a war launched without the proper legal authority.

AOC says Trump's actions show 'clear violation' of constitution

AOC remains firm that the temporary deal is a distraction from what she views as a blatant disregard for the law.

She stated, “This statement changes nothing. The President has threatened a... threat against the Iranian people, and is continuing to leverage that threat.”

The Rep believes Trump bypassed the necessary legal channels to initiate conflict, claiming he “launched a massive war of enormous risk and of catastrophic consequence without reason, rationale, nor Congressional authorization - which is as clear a violation of the Constitution as any.”

“Each day this goes on, the risk and criminality of these actions escalate for our nation and the world,” she added.

AOC accuses administration of profiting from global chaos

AOC also focused on what she described as a pattern of financial corruption. She accused the administration of "self-enrichment, insider trading, and pure corruption off this chaos" through various financial markets.

She further stated that the use of "crypto currencies to predictive trading markets to bribe “settlements” has placed the Trump administration’s pursuit of personal wealth squarely against the wellbeing of our nation and its people.”

AOC calls for removal to protect ‘wellbeing of our nation’

Calling for immediate action, AOC urged both the Cabinet and Congress to take steps to remove the President from power via impeachment or the 25th Amendment.

She argued that the country has reached a breaking point where the safety of the planet is at stake.

“We cannot risk the world nor the well-being of our nation any longer,” she warned.

Insisting that the safety of the US is a non-partisan issue, she concluded that “the President must be removed from office. We are playing with the brink.”

Trump agrees to two-week ceasefire to finalize Iran peace deal

This condemnation follows President Trump’s announcement of a two-week suspension of military strikes after successful talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Trump agreed to delay the “bombing and attack of Iran” to allow both nations to finalize a peace deal, claiming that “almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to.”

While the White House signaled optimism for "long-term PEACE," Trump said the ceasefire is subject to Iran ensuring the "complete, immediate, and safe opening" of the Strait of Hormuz, a condition Iran’s foreign minister has signaled a willingness to meet.
