ATLANTA, GEORGIA: The Atlanta Police Department is urgently seeking the public's assistance in identifying three suspects involved in a shocking incident where an 11-year-old boy was chased and shot near a busy road in southwest Atlanta earlier this month.

The police have released surveillance footage, depicting each suspect pulling out a handgun and firing shots at the boy, who sought refuge near a laundromat and tire shop in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on January 14.

The disturbing footage reveals that the shots were fired dangerously close to passing drivers, prompting one motorist to make a U-turn to escape the chaos. Following the incident, both the injured boy and the suspects fled in opposite directions.

Police were alerted to the shooting scene around 6:15 p.m., where they discovered the 11-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside the laundromat. Remarkably, he was alert when taken to the hospital.

"Preliminary investigation indicates the 11-year-old victim was running from three male suspects and eventually hid in the area," stated the police. "The victim was subsequently discovered by the suspects, and all three suspects discharged firearms at the victim, striking him twice," as per AJC.

The suspects were observed hastily walking across MLK Drive toward the boy before the shooting. Shortly afterward, one of the suspects spotted the victim, alerting the others. The suspects are accused of shooting at the boy a few seconds later. The investigation is actively ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Shooting of 11-year-old mirrors tragic events from a year ago

This disturbing incident occurred approximately a year after the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Deshon DuBose, who was shot after leaving the Cascade Family Skating rink, located about a half-mile from the recent shooting scene. The investigation into the January 14 incident is actively ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000 by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637, or visiting the Crime Stoppers website
