NORFOLK, VIRGINIA: Former President Barack Obama tore into Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Norfolk, Virginia, on Saturday, November 1, comparing today’s politics to “every day being Halloween except it’s all tricks and no treats.”

Speaking at a rally for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger, Obama’s remarks quickly made headlines for their sharp jabs at Trump’s wealth, family ventures, and eccentric online behavior.

“It’s not as if we didn’t see some of this coming,” Obama told the crowd. “I’ll admit it’s worse than even I expected. But I did warn y’all.”

Barack Obama blasts Donald Trump over family’s crypto fortune

Obama accused Trump and his family of profiting heavily through cryptocurrency ventures since leaving the White House. He referred to reports claiming that the Trump family holds a majority stake in World Liberty Financial, a digital finance company allegedly worth hundreds of millions.

“Is the economy working better for you? Because it sure has gotten better for Trump and his family,” Obama said. “Since he’s been in office, the whole crypto business and other ventures have made hundreds of millions of dollars, including from foreign nationals and rich folks investing because they want to stay in the President’s good graces.”

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment after Obama’s remarks.

Barack Obama ridicules Donald Trump’s $350 million ballroom and Rose Garden

Obama mocked Trump’s costly White House renovations and luxury projects, including reports of a $350 million ballroom and a redesigned Rose Garden allegedly modeled after his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

“He been focused on critical issues like paving over the Rose Garden so folks don’t get mud on their shoes, and gold-plating the Oval Office,” Obama quipped. “Apparently, the people’s house is now just another Trump property.”

Barack Obama slams Donald Trump’s Truth Social videos as 'weird distractions'

Obama then turned to Trump’s recent Truth Social activity, criticizing a string of AI-generated videos showing Trump in fantastical scenarios — one wearing a crown, another piloting a fighter jet labeled “KING TRUMP,” and one depicting him dropping brown liquid on protesters.

“All the nonsense we see on the news every day, the over-the-top rhetoric, the fabricated conspiracies — it’s all part of the same show,” Obama said. “They do it so you won’t notice that while they’re helping the wealthiest people consolidate more power, your bills are still going up.”

Donald Trump celebrates Halloween at Mar-a-Lago

While Obama delivered his biting critique in Virginia, Trump was in Palm Beach hosting a Great Gatsby-themed Halloween party at Mar-a-Lago. The extravagant event drew criticism as it coincided with the expiration of a major federal food assistance program relied upon by millions of Americans.
