It's now unclear if he will even attend the convention, which takes place in Milwaukee from Monday, July 15 to Thursday, July 18.

Barron is the only son Trump and Melania share. Other family members  Don Jr and his fiancee Kimberly Guilfoyle, Eric Trump, Tiffany Trump, and her husband Michael Boulos - are also delegates at large for the state of Florida, as per the publication.

Ivanka Trump, who served as a senior adviser in her father's White House, was the only Trump child not on the delegate list, according to Politico. Also, Melania has always been protective of Barron.

Earlier, Florida party chairman, Evan Power, said to the media, "We are fortunate to have a great group of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family working together as part of the Florida delegation."

A Trump campaign official told ABC News that Barron was "very interested in our nation's political process."

Donald Trump weighed on Barron Trump about liking politics

Trump revealed Friday, May 10 that his youngest son, Barron, is one of his closest political advisers hours before word emerged that the 18-year-old would not take part in this summer’s Republican National Convention as a delegate from Florida.

"It's sort of funny. He'll tell me sometimes, 'Dad, this is what you have to do,'" Trump said of Barron.

“He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student. And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny,” Trump told 'Kayal and Company' on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, as reported by the New York Post.

“He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do,'” Trump went on. “So anyway, he’s a good guy."

"He’s a senior now in high school, and he’ll be going to college. And you know, a lot of, a lot of these choices of colleges are changing because you see what’s going on in the last month," he said further.

However, the Internet did not take this well and criticized the family for naming him despite still being a "child," as reported by MEAWW.

The former president and a presumptive GOP candidate had complained that his ongoing Manhattan hush money where he is charged for allegedly falsifying business records to hide a $130,000 hush money payment to Stormy Daniels would prevent him from attending the graduation of his “wonderful son.”

Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the case, allowed Trump to attend the ceremony, scheduled for May 17.

Internet reacts as Barron Trump declines delegate offer

Internet had mixed reactions with some supporting Barron's decision while some said it was a political stunt and that Barron was being projected.

"Prior commitments, huh? Sounds like a nice way of saying 'I've got better things to do,' Can't blame the kid, being thrown into the political spotlight isn't for everyone," wrote one on X.

"I think Melania had something to do with this," added one.

"First Trump to ever pull out," joked one. "They threw out an idea, and found that if he’s old enough for that, he’s old enough for the scrutiny," claimed another user.

"Mothers always know best..." wrote one in support. "Smart mom," commented another.

"Political stunt by dad not ok'd by mom," wrote an X and another said, "MOMMIES BOY BARRON TRUMP FALLS."
