WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro praised President Donald J Trump as the “most courageous commander-in-chief in modern American history” this week.

He defended the Trump administration’s decision to launch Operation Epic Fury against Iran and dismissed concerns that the United States is heading toward a larger war.

‘Bravest move’ and strategic rationale

Shapiro stated there was “no question” that Trump showed remarkable determination by ordering the strikes, and the stakes were high.

He said Trump acted against what Shapiro called the “main threat” from the Iranian regime.

He pointed to decades of hostility, proxy warfare, and regional instability that, in Shapiro’s opinion, justified the president’s choice to use force.

“President Trump is the most courageous commander-in-chief in modern American history. There is no question about this. What he just did is the bravest move by a president of the United States of my lifetime,” he said.

Ben Shapiro talks of ‘America’s interest’

Shapiro responded to critics who say the United States is heading toward a bigger, drawn-out war.

He called those claims “nonsense” and argued that the operation did not pull the US into a long-term ground conflict.

“This notion that America's about to be involved in World War III, nonsense. This notion that America is about to be involved in a long-scale boots on the ground war, absolute nonsense,” he added.

He described the use of military power as a necessary part of American strategy. He stated that force must sometimes be used to protect US interests and prevent future aggression.

Shapiro echoed Trump’s public statements about protecting US security and targeting Iran’s military capabilities.

He said the operation matched traditional conservative beliefs about strength in national defense.

“This notion that America should have let this opportunity slide by. Nonsense. Explain to me why it's not in America's interest. Because it clearly is,” he said.

Trump and members of his administration have said the strikes aim to weaken Iran’s ability to threaten American forces and allies.

They want to do this by reducing its missile stockpile and limiting its nuclear plans.
