WASHINGTON, DC: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly endorsed US President Donald Trump’s surprise strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it a “bold and historic” act that could reshape the future of the Middle East.

In a statement posted to X, Netanyahu said Trump’s decision showed unmatched resolve in the face of growing threats from Tehran, reports News18.com.

“In tonight’s action against Iran’s nuclear facilities, America has been truly unsurpassed. It has done what no other country on Earth could do. History will recall that President Trump acted to deny the world’s most dangerous regime, the world’s most dangerous weapons.”

Netanyahu tied the move to his long-held mantra of “peace through strength,” suggesting the strike was not a provocation but a step toward regional stability.

“President Trump and I often say: ‘Peace through strength.’ First comes strength, then comes peace,” he said. “And Tonight, President Trump and the United States acted with a lot of strength.”

Trump took to Truth Social to confirm the US airstrikes, announcing, “A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. Now is the time for peace! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

According to White House officials, President Donald Trump informed Benjamin Netanyahu of the operation shortly after American warplanes targeted three major Iranian nuclear sites, including the heavily fortified underground facility at Fordow.

The United States reportedly “gave Israel a heads-up before the strikes” as President Trump threw US support behind Israeli forces amid the escalating conflict.

In the hours following the attacks, Israel raised its national alert level, suspending non-essential activities. Security was bolstered around key embassies, including the US mission in Iraq. Meanwhile, Iran's Atomic Energy Organization denounced the attack, calling it a “barbaric” violation of international law.

The organisation said in a statement published on state media, “At dawn today, the country’s nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan were attacked by the enemies of Islamic Iran in a barbaric act that violates international law.”
