CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Vice President Kamala Harris unleashed a scathing attack on former president Donald Trump and the Republican Party for their role in overturning Roe v Wade during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago on Thursday, August 22 night.

As she accepted her party’s nomination for president, Harris didn't hold back in delivering a fiery critique of Trump's judicial appointments and their catastrophic impact on taking away "reproductive freedom."

Kamala Harris accuses Donald Trump of driving abortion ban agenda

Kamala Harris launched into her speech by condemning Donald Trump’s proud boasts about appointing three of the Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v Wade.

“I believe America cannot truly be prosperous unless Americans are fully able to make their own decisions,” she declared, her voice charged with emotion. “About their own lives, especially on matters of heart and home. But tonight, in America, too many women are not able to make those decisions.”

The Vice President’s condemnation of Trump was sharp and unrelenting. “And let’s be clear about how we got here. Donald Trump hand-picked members of the United States Supreme Court to take away reproductive freedom. And now he brags about it. In his words, ‘I did it and I’m proud to have done it.’”

Kamala Harris blames Donald Trump and GOP for abortion restrictions

Kamala Harris’s words echoed through the convention hall, emphasizing the personal and national stakes involved. "Well, I will tell you over the past two years, I have traveled across our country and women have told me their stories. Husbands and fathers have shared theirs. Stories of miscarrying in a parking lot, developing sepsis, losing the ability to ever again have children. All because doctors are afraid they may go to jail for caring for their patients," she recounted.

The Democratic presidential frontrunner also highlighted the cruel impact on families and individuals, noting that access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) has been restricted and teens who were sexually assaulted are being forced to carry unwanted pregnancies. “This is what is happening in our country because of Donald Trump,” she said, her voice rising with indignation.

“Simply put, they are out of their minds. And one must ask, one must ask, why exactly is it that they don’t trust women? Well, we trust women. We trust women. And when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom, as president of the United States, I will proudly sign it into law,” Harris concluded.

Internet lauds Kamala Harris' DNC speech

Netizens took to social media to hail Kamala Harris' nomination acceptance speech at the DNC in Chicago. One supporter of Harris called the VP's blistering takedown of Trump as the 'best line of the night'. They wrote, ""Simply put, they are out of their minds" Kamala Harris best line of the night. @GOP are done. What an incredible speech. Compare this speech with @JDVance at a donut shop today LMFAO. They are cooked."

One social media user found humor in the whole thing and declared what the line was fit for, "Yard sign."

Another woman called it the 'best moment of the night," while one social media user wrote, "What was probably the strongest part of Harris' speech: "He [plans to] enact a nationwide abortion ban... He plans to create a national anti-abortion coordinator and force states to report on women's miscarriages and abortions. Simply put... they are out of their minds!"

One enthusiastic supporter of Harris posted a GIF that showed a woman agreeing with the sentiment expressed by Harris in her speech. They wrote, "“Simply put they are out of their minds." -Madam President Harris" for good measure.
