WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's campaign has raised over $33 million since he faced former President Donald Trump at debate despite criticism over his performance, The Hill reports.

Over $33 million has been raised since the debate, including $26 million from grassroots donations, according to a June 30 email from a Biden campaign staffer. Despite reports some Democrats panicked over Biden's awful debate performance, they were able to bag the haul.

Biden campaign claims they raised more than $33M since debate

The campaign noted that June 27 was "our best grassroots fundraising day ever, while Friday was the second best", and that over half of its donations from grassroots sources came from people who were contributing for the first time in the 2024 election cycle.

More recurring donations than at the same time in 2020, according to the official, is "a major indicator of grassroots support and fundraising sustainability" at this stage in the 2024 cycle.

Both President Biden's and Former President Trump's campaigns boasted about raising large sums of money after the debate. According to the team on June 29 morning, Biden's campaign raised almost $27 million between debate day and Friday night. On the day of the debate, the Trump campaign raised $8 million.

In the face of these worries, Biden and his team have stood up for the president, rejecting calls for him to withdraw from the race and allow someone else to win the nomination. In a document Biden's team stated that the debate "did not change the horse race."

Biden said at a campaign rally in Raleigh, "Folks, I don’t walk as easy as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to."

He added, "But I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. And I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done. And I know what millions of Americans know: When you get knocked down, you get back up."

Internet trolls Biden after they fundrais $33M

Many social media users trolled the Biden campaign as they raised more than $33 million since the President's debate with Trump.

A user wrote on X, "I find this so hard to believe; guess they lie about everything" while one added, "From what I’m hearing on today’s talk shows is that donations to the Biden campaign is drying out lol."

A person also stated, "It's being raised for whomever they replace Jojo with. The donors were informed way back there, but to make it look cool, they announced it this way" whereas one mentioned, "So how comes @BillOReilly just announced @JoeBiden is stepping down, something is definitely fishy with old Joe’s administration."
