WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden invited young girls to join him on stage during an event to honor Gotham FC, disregarding the restrictions put forth by his White House staff.

The 81-year-old declared that he would do the things he wanted to, even though his aides have told him "he can't", the New York Post reported.

Following the shocking revelation, Biden greeted many elementary and middle school children at the East Room's stage during an event celebrating the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League champions.

For the White House event held on Monday, September 23, the president walked onto the stage with NJ/NY Gotham FC 2023 captain Ali Krieger.

Joe Biden admits staff restricted him from doing certain things

"You know, I thought when I got to be president, I’d get to do things that I want to do. But my staff tells me what I can’t do," President Joe Biden said in the East Room with Krieger standing next to him.

"But I’m going to do it anyway," he continued. "All the young women, young kids out there — that are out there, come on up and do this one. Stand behind me, would do. Just come on."

After a long pause, the octogenarian added, "And the guys."

Biden's conversations with the children were not clear. The microphone only caught him asking the names of some. Nevertheless, the president did not reveal why his staff prohibited him from interacting with young girls.

In 2019, Biden came forward to address the concerns of some women who found his contact uncomfortable. In a 2-minute video message posted on X (formerly Twitter), the then-vice president promised he would be "more mindful about respecting personal space in the future," deeming it as his "responsibility."

However, he defended his way of interactions, including shaking hands or hugging, claiming it was how he showed that he cared about and listened to them.

Biden, who withdrew his 2024 re-election bid in July after pressure within the Democratic Party in light of his poor debate performance against his predecessor, Donald Trump, has been keeping a low profile since.

He attended the final United Nations General Assembly’s annual meetings of his term in New York on September 23. Nearing the last days of his one-term presidency, the president has been spending less time in the White House.

In addition, First Lady Jill Biden appeared alongside him at the head table and spoke in the first Cabinet meeting in nearly a year.
