WASHINGTON, DC: Former president and GOP nominee Donald Trump shared that he was not likely to run for president in 2028 if he loses the November general election to his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, reported the Daily Mail.

Trump made the remark during an interview with Sharyl Attkisson on 'Full Measure,' which aired on Sunday, September 22.

The host asked Trump in the course of their conversation, "If you're not successful this time, do you see yourself running again in four years?"

"No, I don’t. I think… that will be it," replied the 78-year-old. "I don’t see that at all. Hopefully, we’re gonna be successful."

The current election cycle has Trump making his third bid for the top job in the United States. He defeated Hillary Clinton to become POTUS when he ran for the first time in 2016, and in 2020, he lost to President Joe Biden.

If Trump wins the upcoming election, he will not be eligible to run for 2028, as US presidents can only serve for two terms.

How old would Donald Trump be in 2028?

The business tycoon would be 82 years old by the time the 2028 election takes place. He is currently the oldest person in the history of the United States to become a major party nominee for the White House.

According to Fox News, Trump shared how he tries to stay healthy during the interview, telling Atkinson, "I used to play golf a little bit…but it seems to be quite a dangerous sport, in retrospect... I try and eat properly."

When the latter questioned Trump's known affinity for hamburgers and soda, he replied, "But proper hamburgers. But I like, perhaps, all the wrong food. But then I say, ‘Does anybody know what the right food is?'"

Trump claimed those who had lectured him on diet had all died, "So, I’m not sure I wanna make too many changes."

MAGA supporters appear confident of Trump's 2024 victory

Netizens, especially MAGA supporters, reacting to the news on the social media platform X claimed that Trump would not have to appear for reelection in 2028 as they were confident of his victory in November. The following tweets demonstrate the prevalent take.

"That won't be a worry, 'cause we will win in 2024! Ground game is working and the data is positive. We just have to keep the pressure to get out the vote!" wrote a user.

"Thankfully he won't need to. He will pass the torch to another maga to win in 28," shared another.

"There’s many people who would do great in his absence but there’s nobody like Donald Trump," expressed a third.

"Honestly he’s got better things to do than deal with corrupt media, politicians, actors/actresses, and 2 wannabe assassins," commented a fourth user.

"This could signal a shift in his political strategy or future plans, depending on the outcome of the election," noted a fifth.
